Obama's speech was posted and it was fantastically sharp and witty.

But in all fairness, the may be one of the better things I've seen McCain ever do - and a sincere hat tip to the gentleman for his comments midway in respect to race in general - and this Presidential race specifically

If he'd been this honorable and authentic during the past months of his campaign, the polls would sure be a lot closer I think.

on edit - found one with much better audio

1. McCain called Obama my good friend and colleague. So McCain is friends with a guy he accuses of

palling around with terrorists? Does Palin know this? What a pathetic loser McCain is. They should use that clip to show McCain DOES know who Obama is, and he considers him a friend.

7. If Obama is a terrorist....and McCain is friends with Obama....
Doesn't that make McCain a terrorist sympathizer?

2. 2nd link audio makes it much more watchable
McCain was fairly good, ut Obama was better. Notice how Obama applauded at length for McCain while McCain barely did for Obama.

3. McCain was funnier
This was the best speech I've seen McCain deliver. It was like he was a different person. Was it the old McCain? The real McCain? or a transient McCain. I think he had better lines than Obama and his comments towards Obama were certainly gracious. It made his campaign tone all the more obnoxious.

Obama did ok but comedy is not his strength. He looked more comfortable delivering his remarks at the end, although I'm not sure if these were entirely appropriate for the event due to the serious nature of them.

I agree if McCain had displayed this persona in the debates, we'd be witnessing a much closer race.

..America is in the middle of a crisis. I don't feel bad at all that it brought them all down a couple notches for a few minute.

4. I really appreciated this. I desperately want him to lose but i can find respect for his words here
I felt they were sincere.

This election is simply a better man scenario. Obama is that man.

6. I can't watch him for more than a few seconds anymore
The way his campaign has operated is revolting. He's a liar and a scoundrel. Fuck McBush.

12. Your entitled to your way of seeing things.

As am i.

I saw all the things you did as this election moved along and am also disgusted by the lies and divisiveness of the McCain/Palin campaign. BUT i can give the man credit for the good things he does as swiftly and decisively as i can rally against him when he does wrong. I don't care about "sides". I care about a better world. I think that Obama is the man to bring that about but i also think that "I" can do my little part. I don't want to be bitter and angry. The planet has enough of it. I want to celebrate our coming victory with a spirit of pride that we did it without lowering ourselves as "others" have done in the past. I want to recognize simple good and save my criticism for obvious wrong. I do not want to live with things as they are. I'd rather live as if i am part of a world where things are as i wish them to be.

The video here is a good thing. Two men setting aside their opposition (during a time of great conflict) for a moment and acknowledging each others good. I will celebrate that. It is a rare and valuable thing. If more would sincerely do this type of thing, we would ALL benefit.

13. No I agree that this event is a great thing in much the same way that I hate the McSmear campaign
As do most Puke campaigns he appeals to the ugliest filthiest most evil elements of human nature. He sells evil and toxic waste. So hooray for being united and good, and a big FUCK YOU to anyone who campaigns in a way that's designed to divide and lower us.

I agree, McCain delivered well. Obama did better, but this is the best I've seen from McCain.

15. The audio of McCain praising Obama is better at this link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GvbYIQyzLg&feature=related

I am really very impressed with the things that McCain said here.

Where would this campaign be now if things had stayed this professional and respectful? If that BS "celebrity" ad had never taken place?? If the country was still blissfully ignorant of a nobody hack named Sarah Palin?? I guess we'll never really know, but I have a feeling it would have been good....
