But let's be careful how we define "American." To me, American values are The Bill of Rights, the Constitution, Equal Rights, and real freedom, not the kind you can buy at Wal Mart. See how many people like Bachman show a shred of respect for any of these things.

When someone comes out with a line like that, the first thing you should do is give them plenty of rope.

The McCain campaign has enlisted their FARRRRRR right religious allies to try to stem some of the energy loss from the educated Republicans who are moving towards Obama - and though formed in desperation, it does on some level work if you get sucked in. They want to make this fear so palpable and the emotion so tenuous, that it flows to those around it without having to do anything else. The key?

It erases talk about real issues.

I also think they are trying to spark a reaction from Democrats themselves instead of the candidates. Barack Obama has been unflappable (so if you can't ignite the candidate, go after the supporters.)

Best thing WE can do is NOT pick up the rope they are laying down - if we do, we are in a tug-of-war with them. You ignore their rope.

And we lay down our own rope:
The economy.
The mismanagement of the Republicans in office.
The lack of adult-behavior during this economic crisis.
Corruption and corporate ownership of government by the Republicans over the middle class' needs.

Smile and look at their evil taunting as the desperation it is - and laugh at it. Laugh out loud. They are so ridiculously outmatched in this election they will try anything. Laugh at them. That is the only way to deal with them. They are in so much fear of the tidalwave washing over their old politics, we should be laughing all the way to November 4th.

that I am STILL shaking. I was screaming at the tv. I called every number on that list and ALL of her mailboxes are full, but that's not going to stop me. I plan on complaining and expressing my outrage to anyone who will listen concerning this so-called public servant. I am SO totally disgusted and repulsed by the Republican party and their behavior. This crap they are shoveling to us is SO transparent that even my 89-year old father-in-law (a lifelong Republican and WWII Veteran) can see it for what it is and told me he will be voting for a Democrat for the 1st time in his life. He'll be complaining also and let me tell ya, that man is RELENTLESS and very out-spoken when he is angry.

He failed to challenge Bachman on any of her assertions, failed to ask her how many people had been killed by The Weather Underground, and didn't ask Bachman one question regarding G. Gordon Liddy's part in the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

John McCain has a much closer connection to terrorists who actually killed Americans than does Obama, and the only damn person brave enough to broach the topic, peripherally, is Dave Letterman?
