Try as he may to spin his way out of this one, he clearly disses Pennsylvania, both by repeating a joke about the state and then claiming that they do, in fact, cling to their guns & faith/religion. I guess the best way to get support for Republicans in Pennsylvania is to attack them, eh Karl?

3. If you consider comparing Pennsylvania to Alabama to be insulting, yes.

But some people would consider it insulting to imply that being compared to Alabama is insulting.

And all he's doing by saying that southwest Pennsylvania clings to guns and religion is to agree with Obama that, yeah, some of them DO do that.

So this isn't all that damning--except that Rove is the kind of guy who likes to get on his high horse when these statements come out of the mouth of a Democrat and imply that the Democrat is "dissing" people by referring to them the same way he himself refers to them.
