The 1,800 Hayward, California teachers (NEA) on strike this week are also taking their cause to the Web. A video of their March 28 rally on You Tube inspired other teachers to create a daily video chronicle of the strike called Channel 16.84, The Truth.

1. What makes people think they can treat people so badly?

One of our outgoing school board members lamented that times have changed. No longer are teachers expected to just teach the kids, they are expected to raise the children. Yet teachers rarely get salary increases that keep up with the rate of inflation. In essence, their pay goes down year after year, and one wonders why teachers leave the profession at an alarming rate? What are our priorities?
