This is kooky conspiracy crap from the extremist fringe. Google "Amero" and the first link that comes up is from our old friend Jerome Corsi (the Swift Boat guy) in the conservative rag Human Events. After that is a link from World Nut Daily, also by Jerome Corsi. And then there are some websites that look like they were designed by a 12-year-old.

The US isn't going to give up the dollar anytime soon.

8. This Amero proposal is in the congressional record - Robert Pastor's testimony.

I don't know why the wingnuts are against it since it's conservative think tanks like the Fraser Institute and the CD Howe Institute that are lobbying for it. Herbert Grubel of the Fraser Institute wrote a book called The Case for the Amero: http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/shared/readmore.asp?sNav=pb&id=152

This isn't a total fantasy. Read Dr. Pastor's testimony in the Canadian House of Commons. It's revealing.

9. I don't doubt that some people support North American monetary union.

But it ain't going to happen (at least not anytime soon). Just because some people are pushing for it does not mean it's gonna happen.
