6. The republican party has been getting dumber and dumber presidential candidates
Palin is the test as to just how low they are willing to go. I think there might be smart republicans out there that need to speak up against the neocons and their "brown shirts" the fundy Christians.

19. The republican party is made up of a coalition of small groups like the neocons
that openly want to take control of the world, the fundy Christians that want to convert the world to Christianity at gun point, and major corporations like Exxon, GE, Blackwater, Halliburton, etc. that just want all the money in the world. This group runs the party while the remainder tens of millions are just plain gullibles. So the ruling coalition likes to choose someone dumb to be president so the gullibles can relate. I think the neocons and the repub-corp will decide that she is just too dumb to win a national election and they will go with someone else. This will leave the fundy Christians with Palin. They deserve each other.

14. The best part is watching KO's reactions
I've seen this clip of Palin several times already- and yes, I still keep expecting to see Leslie Nielsen appear in the background- but this time, just watching Olberman's expressions as the interview gets dumber and dumber is the most entertaining part.

26. You know what? People need to see how it's done...!
I am from the countryside, so I have seen it done many times, and I have done it myself with animals I either fished or hunted.

My mother would ask me to go buy a chicken to the lady next door who did just that: run a chicken farm.

I would pick the animal I wanted to eat and she would slaughter it in front of me, and of course it was sort of gross, as the animal was hanging upside down, bleeding to death and choking in its own blood while life was slowly draining out of her.

All the while I was chatting with the lady, asking all sorts of questions about her business, and the history of the village, and the weather, and what not. Then she would butcher the animal and I would stand there and see her do it. From the living unsuspecting thing to the fryer ready to throw in the oven in less than 15 minutes (she had done that all her life, this lady, never once set her feet in a city with more than 5000 souls).

Most people are completely unaware, they want to shield themselves from the realities of life, and buy their meat at the grocery store all packaged and processed, ready to throw in the oven or on the grill.

I agree that the photo-op is a bit of a blunder, but all in all, I find nothing offensive, as this seems to be a rather small operation where the animals are slaughtered in what seems to me the least cruel way possible.

There are fully automated operations where the animals are skinned or boiled while still alive, often by accident, but sometimes because the workers find it entertaining to watch an animal suffer.

These big operations make me sick, but the smallest mom and pop business do it right and don't treat the animals in a cruel manner, unless you're a veggie, and you think we should avoid killing animals.

28. DING DING DING! AzNick, you're our grand prize winner!
I agree that the photo-op is a bit of a blunder, but all in all...the animals are slaughtered in what seems to me the least cruel way possible...

I don't think most people see the slaughter itself as the problem, but the facts that 1) it was done right after Palin PARDONED a turkey, and 2) it could have been completely avoided by, as Keith said, moving a couple of feet away!
