1. It makes no sense for the Republicans to try to reduce wages
That's not keeping them from doing it.

Supposedly, unfettered free market capitalism benefits everyone, including workers. So the champions of unfettered free markets want to bring wages down, cut benefits, etc., even after the union has made concessions to the Big Three. That's some benefit.

So their solution is to kill GM and Chrysler and throw millions out of work. That's some benefit.

2. Just the usual, malicious, coldl hearted Rethug politics as usual.
... collateral dammage and paybacks to those who were against their union busting in the past.

3. in a free market, wages fall to the bottom
you will never make any more than the lowest paid foregin competitor

Keep in mind labor costs are more than wages, they include taxes to support social and physical infrastructure, and constraints on unlimited power of employers over workers.

That's why american corporation love communist china - no political rights to cause them trouble

9. God tells them 2
These folks vote 4 the repbs because god told them to. If you vote demo u will forgo the chance to get on the space ship wen good ole jc comes swooping in 4 a low pass in hte ship nd a 144 K get swooped up an everyone else gets knocked off especially the jews. They get it from the Exhaust gases of the jets while being retrieved and just prior to where the nuk engines cut in at lite speed. That way the good bible slammers can watch JC hedden out for the next planet where the repubs could be.

10. Elsewhere on DU
I saw a link to a CBS news survey where the respondants were against the bailout by about 2 to 1.

So 66% of all Americans are in favor of the willful destruction of the American Auto Industry? By choice? We can choose to avert a crisis or chose to grow even more American economic misery.

Another post led me to some information I had known before by being in manufacturing: The retail cost of a product includes about 8% for direct labor. So if you cut the UAW member salary in half, A $50,000 car now sells for $48,000.

Ruining the standard of living even further for fellow Americans will then result in the recovery of the industry by this change alone?

Bullshit, I say.

The root of all this is that our institutions have all failed us. This is what happens when America is run by greedy self absorbed mean spirited sociopathic morons. These treacherous cretins do not have any capacity for human empathy in any way, shape, or form.

Rachel does make a lot of great points I doubt are anywhere else to be found in all of MSM, save for her warm up act.
