He's more valuable where he is at and it would be unwise to potentially put a 2008 Pres candidate right in the VP seat where he would get plenty of free publicity.

7. I don't, but for a different reason
I was just able to scan Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment (bad eyes), but I didn't see the abrogation of the Geneva Conventions there.

If we are ever going to retain the reputation we once had of respecting them and of good treatment of captured enemies, that must be there.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't see it.

15. Robert Parry, Unexpected results at end of article.
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2006/111106.html

snip>>>

"Clinton’s generosity to George H.W. Bush and the Republicans, of course, didn’t turn out as he had hoped. Instead of bipartisanship and reciprocity, he was confronted with eight years of unrelenting GOP hostility, attacks on both his programs and his personal reputation.

...If the full story of George H.W. Bush’s role in secret deals with Iraq and Iran had ever been made public, the Bush Family’s reputation would have been damaged to such a degree that George W. Bush’s candidacy would not have been conceivable.

...In retrospect, Clinton’s tolerance of Reagan-Bush cover-ups was a lose-lose-lose – the public was denied information it needed to understand dangerous complexities in the Middle East, George W. Bush built his presidential ambitions on the nation’s fuzzy memories of his dad, and Republicans got to enact a conservative agenda.

...Though sometimes the truth can hurt, Clinton and the Democrats should understand that covering up the truth can hurt even more. As Clinton’s folly with the Reagan-Bush scandals should have taught, the Democrats may hurt themselves worst of all when helping the Republicans cover up the truth."

It is a sad day in America when our leaders will not confront what is most shameful and an aberation to the Constitution. What would the founders say if they were here today. They risked their very lives, their lives,(yes I repeated it), and the lives of their families and everyone they knew to fight the British and the East India Company for the Revolution to found this republic.
I will support Dennis Kucinich. I don't think he supported the house vote on the Iraq authorization,(someone help me out here,) but I doubt that the really voted to authorize that. I will support him through the primary, because this is what we need. We need people like him, and Henry Waxman, to say, NO! You are out of control. And we will not let you cripple us into a war that is bankrupting the treasury!

42. Amen to that AnOhian!! Amen to that and Bravo!
We need people to wake up and know, KNOW DAMMIT!, that they can now be rounded up and sent to the gulag without charge or trial, and they can be held indefintely for no reason because the president now has the power to define any American citizen as an enemy combatant. The president or a delegate of the president can now ruin ANY American citizens life by holding them without charges.
We are now well on our way to being a full-on fascist state. These so-called Democratic leaders need to have th courage and conviction to call for Impeachment.
Very few of our elected officials today are fighting for the Constitution.
Although I am proud to say that my Rep here in Washington, Jim McDermott, early on supported John Conyers call for investigations into wrongdoing by the Bush White House.
If you live in Washington, and even if you don't please write to Jim McDermott, and support his co-sponsorhip of John Conyers investigations, which is months and months old by now.
Maybe now that Democrats have a slim majority, they can get the hearings out of that basement closet.

28. I want them all
impeached. Bush, Cheney, Rummy and Condi. Then I want to put them on trial for treason. Since it is wartime (a great irony that they created the war, but the law is not without some humor) I want the death penalty attached. Once found guilty, ship them off to the Hauge. No mater what the outcome there, Europe would not extradite them to a death penalty, so they would be left as men (and a woman) without a country. Perhaps their Saudi puppetmasters might find a room for them to share in the Kingdom. But never again would they darken the soil of America by being on it.

32. Too much attention focused on Republicans
The bullshit the Dems use for not supporting Cheney impeachment is it would make them look like the bad guys and repubs would say they just hate Bush. It makes no sense. They also claim it would be bad for America and take up valuable time which could be spent on important issues. Cowards. Why can't they understand how angry we are at them lying us into a war, bankrupting our country because of it; killing our soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis; and losing our respect in the eyes of the world; removing habeas corpus with torture and secret prisons. We want them impeached and then jailed for war crimes and treason. We thought they had the stomach for it. If we knew before hand they would not impeach when the evidence became clear we would not have voted for the spineless bastards. It makes them look weak. We have all been waiting for someone to introduce articles of impeachment to get the ball started. Across the country there are demonstrations for it, state governments are voting on it, city governments too. What does it take to make these Dems realize impeachment IS what WE want? How many more polls and signs and web sites does it take. Yeah...sure...later they're gonna do all this stuff...when they get elected...sure. Prove it. This is what you can do now right where you're at presidential wannabes. Now is when we will see who is really willing to defend our constitution with action. They are stupid not to at least support it so it can go to committee. They flunked the test and are continuing to flunk it. Barack says all options are on the table with Iran...oooh, brave...but can't even keep the impeachment option on the table against Cheney. They claim they are listening to us..I emailed mine...They are listening only to themselves talk. Oh yeah, prove it...put the option on the table. Let's see how you would vote.

So many Democrats are so cowardly. Many of them have sold out. Not a majority. Maybe a majority suffer from lack of a spine tho. We have never seen such corruption. Cheney being the worse. 47. Won't happen without your support, so see this link...

I absolutely support the impeachment effort. It's clear that the Democratic leadership is terrified about having to go through with it unless the public literally demands it. So demand it!

Check out this page:

http://www.usalone.com/cgi-bin/transparency.cgi?paper=1&qnum=pet45

It's the 25 most recent comments left by real Americans expressing their opinion on HR333. Similar to a MoveOn petition, participants have the option of having their comments sent to their senators, congressmen, and local newspaper editors.

We all know better than to expect MoveOn to do this until it gets the green light from the Democratic leadership. These guys have stepped up to the plate to offer this resource to the whole country.

The participation page is at:

http://www.usalone.com/cheney_impeachment.php

I encourage you to participate yourself, get your opinion to the opinion makers, and spread the word about this page. When that list hits 100,000, it might make the news.

Rather than impeaching any corrupt politicians lets just ask for a new country. Just a few states maybe where progressives could live in peace without the crushing presence of republicans and republican-lites that wear the moniker....democrat.

51. Kucinich's views and message are great, but he does not frame well.
Kucinich needs to go for the juggler. He spent too much time talking about the Constitution. That works in a longer speech with a sophisticated audience, but not in a TV debate. He should have immediately said something like: Congress must impeach Vice President Cheney. Cheney lied about the weapons of mass destruction. Cheney lied about Al Qaeda being active in Iraq before we went in. Over 3,000 wonderful young Americans have died because of his lies. Cheney knew and if he didn't know, he should have known that he was sending our sons and daughters to die based on lies. Cheney's lies and the decisions made on those lies cost thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives. Cheney's lies have caused millions and millions of people all around the world to distrust America. We have lost out position as the moral leader of the world. Cheney must be impeached as must all those around him who refused to speak out against his lies.

Go for the juggler. Don't beat around the bush (pardon the pun). Say what you have to say succinctly, quickly and clearly. Never explain why you are saying what you are saying. If your arguments can't stand on their own two feet without a lot of prefatory explanation, they need to be rethought. Never apologize for your beliefs. The whole bit about the Constitution was a veiled apology.

... just to make a point. Williams' childish questioning, asking the candidates to raise their hands to commit to a simplistic "yes" or "no" answer to ANY question should be uniformly criticized, rather than leveraging his miserable moderation to make some political point.

Just what do you think you're going to accomplish with this? We all know full well there are too many dead-enders in Congress who won't play along. There is every reason for this to end very, very badly for us, and there are far better things to do than waste time on this.

57. K&R. Thank you! Terrific video!
I just watched the beginning of Bill Maher for the second time because I wanted to see his interview with Dennis again. I've loved the guy since 2003, when he spoke out against the proposal to invade Iraq and was called "unpatriotic" for his intelligent and courageous stand. When he speaks, he always inspires me. I'm grateful that he's running again, not that I think he stands a chance, but because I think that we (and the other candidates) need to hear his voice and ideas and this gives him a national platform. He has guts and imagination and he gets it.:-)

BTW, I was also inspired to change my avatar. I've had Jimmy Carter since we've had avatars, one of my heroes, though I've had Dennis before and also John Conyers (another great congressman), but I just had to change it back to Dennis after his inspiring performance in that debate. DK rocks!:yourock:

62. I do & if we don't support impeachment of Bush-Cheney, look for pardons of their Bushco buddies
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 02:43 PM by wordpix
We can perhaps keep Bush-Cheney in a box of irrelevancy with our new Dem. Congress. However, with Bush-Cheney unimpeached
1) They go scot free for their crimes including responsibility for 3333 Americans killed, 30,000+ Americans maimed, 650,000 Iraqis killed and 2 million Iraqi refugees.

2) They pardon every single corrupt, criminal repuke convicted of a crime including Libby, Cunningham and who knows who's next?

63. Count me in.
Upholding the rule of law demands impeachment.

64. I Support Kucinich Because I Support The Rule of Law and the U.S. Constitution.
Each of our leaders has taken a solemn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. The words "unless it's not politically convenient for me" were not included in that oath.

68. Kucinich's presidential website is being hammered...
http://kucinich.us/

The ONLY candidate that favors impeachment of VP DICK Cheney? The ONLY one?

Amazing... simply amazing...

Will We be put on a "do not hire list" by supporting Dennis Kucinich?

Will We be arrested and detained without a warrant or charges for peaceful protesting against Cheney?

Will We be incarcerated and tortured for supporting his impeachment?

Will We, the People of the United States of America take back our country?

Hell yes, impeach the the crook! And that's just for beginners!

70. Hey, check it out -- this thread suppressed?
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 04:14 PM by OtisTDog

How very odd that this thread, with 39 recommendations, is not at the moment appearing in the main du.com pages list of the 5 "greatest" threads, though it's score beats the 32 that the #5 thread has.

Also odd that it doesn't appear AT ALL on the "greatest discussion threads sorted by recommendations" list at: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=greatest_threads

Nice. What a sad thing for a brand new DU member to see.

74. Welcome to DU. It is my understanding that posts stay on the
greatest page for 24 hours from the time they were first posted, so this thread should have made way for newer posts sometime Sunday afternoon.

76. 4 Adults in this house do! ( at least by Friday when my son turns 18)
We been saying it since day one of this administration - since the elections was stolen and when you add the unending crime wave since that stolen election impeachment is mandatory for our country to survive and attempt to clear our reputation!
