This is an interesting discussion. I think what he says about Syria is true, Assad has expressed interest in negotiating for years now. It's something that can be done. The Bush admin was too hostile to any idea outside of war and confrontation though. Well, duh... :)

2. I think the key to all this is community organizing just talking ain't working. Worked for the GE. >

I mean clearly we're not there at the moment but I think a lot of the talking has to occur on the ground than at government level. I think that's the solution.
