BUSH SR: One time we thought we'd outsmarted the crowd. We sent a decoy limosine off in one direction while I snuck out the back entrance. And we rounded the corner -- I'll never forget it -- and I saw one of the ugliest and angriest women I have ever seen in my entire life. Boy, she was really bad. And she charged my car with a sign... and came up right next to the window: "Stay out of my womb!" No problem, buddy.

Yes, anti-choicers and conservatives are STILL making the played-out "argument" that feminists are ugly. Sorry, my feelings still aren't hurt.

Disappointingly, Bill Clinton -- a pretty reliable pro-choice ally -- wishes he could tell jokes about ugly, threatening pro-choicers, too: "You know, he tells jokes that I just couldn't get away with telling. Can you imagine what they would do to me if I told that joke he told?" Um, yes. Yes, I can. We'd call you a sexist asshole.

2. I thought Clinton's respoonse was a tactful way of pointing out...
Edited on Wed Jan-28-09 12:54 PM by whoneedstickets
..how offensive that joke was. He was subtly saying "are you going to let him get away with that?"

4. Maybe you;re right. I'd like to listen to suggestions on what he could have
done better. But, it was pretty good for having to think that fast.

What a deplorable old man GHWB is.

It's an offense against all women - pro or anti.

The hard part is her message - it's true. I just asked the question a week or so ago - why are men so obsessed with abortion?

5. Uh, yeah!
Clinton equated Bush with wormy dogs. I'd say he expressed his disapproval pretty clearly.

6. Actually, I think in the analogy Bush Sr. is the breakdancing kid...
Chris Mathews observed during the inauguration that Clinton looks at Bush Sr. as a father figure, who knows.

14. Exactly right! If Bill had charged out and confronted Bush Sr's story, he would have been the heavy
but he put it on himself and was able to call the old guy out without calling him out. It's the same thing I tell my partner that John Stewart is so successful. He makes it funny, and if the other guy gets offended he looks like the asshole, while John makes his point (very deadly)

8. Can you imagine the sequel to Bush/Clinton/Katrina?
Bill Clinton gets the bad back like George H.W. 41 Bush (hmm ... and he sky-dives on his birthday, to this day?) had ...

Do you believe for one moment that George W. 43 Bush (pushing past the Twilight Zone episode where he actually would be making that fund-raising tour for real people) would give up HIS bed so that the person with the bad back (Clinton) would not have to sleep on the floor?

10. I am not sure Clinton wants to call pro-choice women ugly
I was never a Clinton fan--I was a Jackson supporter in 1992, and an Edwards and then Obama supporter in this past election.

It seems to me, though, that he was just saying that Bush gets a pass where he does not. I don't think the part that he was addressing was the issue of calling pro-choice women ugly (though that's certainly the meme Bush was going for): it was the part about "staying out of her womb." Philanderer Bush can make jokes about this, but philanderer Clinton cannot.

13. He used that same line
when he spoke to our company a few years ago. Unfortunately, it brought the house down. My wife and I looked around, and everyone was laughing so hard they were almost crying. I didn't think it was that good of a punch line, but what can you do. The bar for humor is set pretty low these days.

15. Not funny in Wichita either
Bush the First ran this joke by the Chamber of Commerce members when he made a speech in Wichita a few years ago. The remark was printed in a box on the front page of the paper. Someone accused me of not having a sense of humor when I wrote a letter complaining about the remark and the front page play it got. Well, the joke is lame and so old it creaks and it just shows how out of touch Bush is.

18. You can see where the expression "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree" comes from.
This old bastard has just about as much tact and smarts as the little f*cker in the family.

What a pair of pricks.

19. Or how about this Cheney joke about West Virginia last June?
If that had been Obama, Biden, Howard Dean or just about any other Democrat, we would have never heard the end of the carping and whining from the MSM about "liberal elitism" and "Oh those Democrats just can't connect with those Salt of the Earth white working class people", ad nauseum.
