1. I hope that after these actions that Obama will say enough.
Let's give this HHS to Dr. Dean.

2. Love Cenk when he's righteously outraged!
And he is right about the "Kerfuffle lady..." (although I have to say, I thought the Daschle thing had legs. But then again, why did Geithner get confirmed? as Treasury Secretary, no less?)

3. K&R I agree. The dems better start getting a backbone or balls or
whatever it takes, or like Cenk said "you're not going to get a damn thing done"! Jesus fucking Christ! What I wouldn't give to have democrats in power that didn't cave at the first sign of trouble.

Or want to be bi=partisan. You can't play nice with the thugs! GDI!

5. What does our dems have to be afriad of? Fighting for what we all want?
I have felt for a long time that MOST politicians are on the take. I'm hoping Obama is different. If he doesn't hold Bushco accountable, we'll know where he stands.

7. Cenk has his facts wrong on this one
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 09:44 PM by Enrique
a Google search of "Bush nominee withdraws" yields a list:

Harriet Miers
Timothy Flanigan
Linda Chavez
Bernard Kerik
Michael Baroody
Hans von Spakovsky
James Payne
David Palmer
Anthony Raimondo
James Roche
Duncan Getchell
Sam Fox
Miguel Estrada
William Myers
Terrence Boyle
Michael Wallace
Donald Schregardus
William W. Mercer

...more, but this is a good start.

I don't think it was weird for Daschle to pull out, I think it was weird for Obama to nominate him, not because of his taxes but because of his lobbying. Same for William Lynn and same for Timothy Geithner's chief of staff. If they get pulled I won't see it as weak, and I don't want Obama to stick with bad nominees just to appear "strong."

8. Hyperbole Vs. Facts
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 10:18 PM by ihavenobias
I think there is some creative license here. Of course Bush had *some* nominees withdraw, but he was a two term president, and generally speaking he got just about everyone he wanted.

Just look at the Supreme Court (Miers was a bipartisan joke). Obama has been president for 2 seconds (more hyperbole), Bush for 8 years. And again, it's also WHY they withdrew. Cenk is absolutely correct that there's no way a Republican would withdraw because of a $900 lean.

On that I'm sure we agree. :)

9. I think he withdrew because it is going to be hard enough to get a
universal health care bill through the senate without starting with one strike against it. Remember what Hillary went through and the same bunch of insurance and big pharma are going to be against it now. They will fight dirty and they will use everything they can to win. I would like to see Dr. Dean in this job and if he needs help moving this through the legislature then get someone who knows how to work with him.

Repubs should just change their name to the Obstructionist Party. It is all they stand for.
