This is a shortened 3-minute version of a video about rendition produced by the ACLU in 2007. The full 10-minute version can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdLwTu-L4Wo

The ACLU filed a federal lawsuit against Jeppesen Dataplan, Inc., a subsidiary of Boeing Company, on behalf of three victims of the U.S. government's unlawful "extraordinary rendition" program. The lawsuit charges that Jeppesen knowingly provided direct flight services to the CIA that enabled the clandestine transportation of Binyam Mohamed, Abou Elkassim Britel and Ahmed Agiza to secret overseas locations where they were subjected to torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

1. Thank you for posting this-
I posted it a couple days ago but I don't think it got a lot of views- happy to K & R.
People need to see what a deplorable use of the "States Secrets" tool was made.

2. K&R, I am a supporter and ACLU member, I encourage everyone to
do so as well. With that said, I wish the average American, who seems to get most of their information from the MSM could understand what this hideous practice involves and WHY it is wrong for the US to participate. If they were informed we might get the response needed to bring this to an end. US citizens seem to be under the impression that we need these tactics, that we are made safer, that it is not illegal etc, all of which is false. Also, these tactics are not supported by those trained in interrogation by and large, as this is not a liberal vs. conservative issue but more of a rogue practice vs trained legal interrogation practices. Very frustrating that the MSM will not participate in giving this topic full examination, instead you get pitiful bias mention when and if they report on the issue at all. All those here at DU and forums like this are informed, but unfortunately most Americans imo are not.

4. I carry my card proudly -
Most people view the ACLU as they would a personal injury lawyer, it's not important until they need their services. And as they watch American Idol and Hannitys out there, they are totally unaware that this country is no longer a democracy, but sliding into fascism.

6. How true indeed, if we ever needed Americans to understand the
value of the rule of law, it is now.

3. Thanks for posting. The following is from the ACLU link:
"Repairing the damage caused by the program's operation requires not simply a change in policy, but accountability of those involved and redress for its victims; this cannot be achieved through presidential order alone."

5. This to -
"To date, no victim of the extraordinary rendition program has been granted their day in court, let alone been afforded any kind of redress for their injuries. Some are still detained."

Now, let's see if this will be adhered to:

""Our greatest tool in advancing democracy is our own example."
