3. The site of this song is a reactor now.

This summer, I was visiting Muhlenburg County and noticed a little road on the map that led from the highway to a place called "Paradise" on the Green River. So being a Pryne fan, I followed that road, hoping to find the backward old town he sang about. The drive took me through the Peabody Wildlife Conservation area and several coal yards. Finally, at the very end of the road, I discovered that after Mr. Peabody's coal train done hauled the town of Paradise away, they left a three-towered nuclear reactor behind them.

So it's even worse than the picture Pryne painted. Not only is Paradise destroyed, nuclear hell now sits by the Green River, waiting.

No wonder the air there smells like snakes.

5. I grew up near there (30 miles south, more or less) and did not know this

I shall have to ask my sister about that. Somewhere in my boxes of photos I have some photos of those humongeous shovels.
