Holy schnikees! Check out this VoteVets ad featuring General Batiste, Bush's commander of the 1st Infantry Division in Iraq from the invasion until 2005.

GOP talking points aside, it appears that Bush does NOT actually listen to his "commanders on the ground" unless, of course, they're telling him exactly what he (and Karl) wants to hear.
