1. just for the record
these guys spent a year trying to get their hands on guns to carry out this idiotic plan. I don't know why they didn't just drive to Virginia?

2. But guns are soooooo easy to obtain.
To hear the anti-gun people tell it, a third grader can buy an assault rifle with his lunch money on any street corner.

Maybe it's not as easy as you think. Or maybe these guys are even stupider than the other terrorists--the ones in the Whitehouse--if that's possible.

3. well, I guess that gun control worked in New Jersey this time, right?
Guns are easy to obtain, in the right places, with the right connections. These assholes were simply in the wrong place.

5. In new Jersey,
they probably were on backorder. :D

4. Well, you gotta admit, if a middle-eastern type guy showed up at
a place looking to buy a high powered rifle or a semi-auto AK knockoff, the proprietor would be on the phone to the FBI by the time he was half way out the door. What's easy for some is maybe not so easy for others.

7. Sounds like they had civilian guns, but wanted automatic weapons

Sounds like they had civilian guns, but wanted automatic weapons and explosives, both of which are VERY tightly controlled in this country by Federal law. Possession outside police/military/government duty is a 10-year Federal felony, unless you get Federal authorization (BATFE Form 4), and the only alternative sources would be smuggling from other countries, theft/diversion from military or law enforcement, or illegal black-market manufacture.

Federal law prohibits Virginia gun dealers (or anybody else) from selling guns to anyone out of state, but I'm sure that wasn't the obstacle; they could have gotten all the civilian guns they wanted from black-market dealers in Camden, I suspect. I think the difficulty in getting machineguns and explosives was the obstacle.

8. Like the Liberty City "Terrorist Cell"
Remember the Liberty City "Terrorist Cell" in Miami? A bunch of pathetic miscreants who were approached by an agent and then spoon fed behavior that was billed as a narrowly-averted plot to bring down the Sears Tower in Chicago.

These guys never had the manner or means to do anything unless they were pushed into it by the nomadic agent who landed in their midst.

There's enough crime, corruption, and legitimate terrorism being conducted by Henchman Bush and the Corporate Criminal Cabal. They don't need to go around inventing fake crimes by duped morons and losers.

11. Welcome to DU
:hi:

It reminds me of (I think) an old Bob Newhart routine where the communist cell meeting is called off when the FBI agents call the roll and realize that the lone communist didn't show up.
