Baghdad is home to an estimated 7 million people. Five square miles of the city named the "Green Zone" is heavily fortified and serves as the location for the Iraqi government and its leaders. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is also located in the Green Zone.

This video is of our flight in a Blackhawk helicopter flying across the city.

At the beginning, you'll see flares shoot out from our gun-ship escorts. You'll also see burning trash - a result of Baghdad having no functioning public sanitation system.

It's interesting that in a city packed full of people, there are very few to be seen in this video.

The video gives you a good idea of what Baghdad looks like, what its homes look like, and the expanse of the city.

it reminds me of some sci-fi movie where all the people got up and left.

no animals... yep, it looks like Indiana to me. That congress critter was right.
