"A hall of mirrors of conservative references", indeed.

This is what happens to a political movement when it grows more attached to its abstract philosophies than it is to the interests of the people and the country it supposedly exists to serve.

If America succeeds during the Obama era, particularly on the heels of the disastrous Bush Administration, that would mean that conservatives have been historically wrong on a biblical scale. This is not seen as an acceptable outcome in some quarters.

* Bargaining: "Just let me live 'til my daughter's wedding, and I'll do anything"

* Depression: "I am too sad to do anything"

* Acceptance: "I'm at peace with what is coming".

The Republicans are moving fast. They are already in the anger stage. They will be bargaining before long. All we have to do is wait.
