1. There's nothing here that suggests any wrongdoing by law enforcement.
She was stopped for driving at night without headlights. That's a responsible thing for the Deputies to do. They ran her license and found that she had a warrant for her arrest, so they took her into custody. They were legally required to do that. Thay gave the understandably upset kids stuffed animals.

I'm not defending some of Arpaio's other actions, but there's absolutely nothing sinister here.

2. Wearing ski masks???
I've been stopped for traffic violations, but never by cops wearing ski masks! Nor was I forced to leave a child in the car alone for hours. They gave me a ticket/warning/summons and let me go on my way. But of course I'm white and respectable looking, and on two of those occasions I was wearing scrubs and had a stethoscope draped around my neck (cops love nurses for obvious reasons).

I'd expect the officers to show a little bit of common sense when stopping a woman with small children for a traffic violation. Allow her to do what I did: wait by the car while they ran her license. If she's not wanted for a violent felony, give her a ticket or a summons. If either she or the car is not safe to drive, escort her home and have it towed.

This was way over the top. Hell, I would have been scared shitless in her shoes, and I'm a dowdy looking white senior citizen who hasn't had a negative encounter with law enforcement since the sixties (that whole blocking access to a draft board thing...).

3. I saw no mention of "ski masks" or "alone in the car for hours".
...either in the video or on the linked site.

What I saw was a completely reasonable stop and arrest. If the Deputies were executing a bench warrant, they had no choice but to take the woman into custody...either way, they were well within their rights.

Another point...the "aunt" was either in the car (which means the children weren't alone) or the police called her, rather than turning the kids over to social services.
