When Teresa and he learned that she was pregnant with an anencephalic fetus, they opted for live birth and named the poor doomed thing. So you can say he's sincere, but in its own way that's worse because it indicates true-believing fanaticism.

I think that anencephalic babies probably raise a theological problem for those who believe in God and an afterlife, since God surely has to reconstitute the poor mites. Does He give them a functional brain, or no? If not, that would seem a cruel act, if so, it would seem He's not resurrecting the same baby that died, since having a functional brain would appear to make the baby someone else altogether.

I didn't know what it was so I googled it. What a nightmare.
