16. He speaks the Truth, Corporations have taken control and hold us hostage.
The Too Big To Fail organizations can shut down the economy in a second. They can cause food shgortages, Fuel prices to rise astronomically, and can layoff millions of workers at will.

What Government could sustain itself or say no to organizations that wield that much control? Not many would have the balls.

18. Torches and Pitchforks!
I wonder how low it will take for all those people who have had their 401K savings wiped out to show up at the gated communities of the crooks with torches and pitchforks and start erecting a guillotine. Just how long can the common people tolerate the management of corporations awarding themselves millions of dollars in bonuses while losing billions of the common peoples' money? Just how long?

23. Right on, Keith. Do we all think that his comments, great as they
are, will be followed by the greedy entities that caused you and I to lose our jobs, our retirement, our health?

That same bail-out money could pay for healthcare, for jobs, for education. Instead, we find ourselves pinching pennies, worrying when our unemployment benefits will run out, where our retirement money went. Now what are we to do?

With respect due to younger workers, find yourself a job where you can use skills that are essential. Keep up your training, take night courses, whatever you can to help yourself become a member of some "can't do without" group. Old timers like me cannot do the same. Never mind the retraining comments I hear. There becomes a point where the mind and body just do not absorb the rigors of 40 hours a week, back to the books, redirect yourself ideals.

We have worked a productive lifetime, the whatever we have left is shorter by time and circumstance.

Do yourself a favor while you can. Grab this broken economy in a selfish, self-serving way. Protect you and yours. No-one else will.

56. I'm betting you didn't get paid for as hard as you worked either
That's the essential problem with the way things have gone since Reagan. Workers are producing far more than they get back in wages, and the lazy millionaires suck up the rest to spend on gold umbrella stands and $300 Kobe beef burgers. Dammit, if people just got paid for the work they actually did, I would complain a lot less.

27. Many of us are weary of forgiving Keith.
This is corporate fascism, and the Bush administration delivered it to all of us. In our dumb complacence, and debt-based existence of servitude, we signed for it. We signed for it and went on consuming the next season of American Idol, or dancing with the fucking stars. I think we may be too late to reverse this course, as even the current administration, which we fought and bled for, may just be all for show.

You see, these thieving bastards are taking nothing more than a slap on the wrist for all of their corruption. Merely buying their time, while they scheme even more elaborate methods of circumventing law, and decency. And our elected officials feign outrage under the auspices of representing us.

They've taken the money and fucking run boys and girls. And believe this. They are sitting up there in those big, multi-million dollar offices, smoking cigars, and drinking 18 y.o. Scotch, and they are laughing. They are laughing at what complete suckers we are. They are laughing at our newly elected President. They are laughing behind the scenes with the likes of Geitner, and Dodd. They are laughing while strolling through their summer house in Tuscany. They are laughing at the bailout that we supplied, and they have already pissed away. All the while holding their hand out for more, more, more.

No Keith, the time for forgiving is over. The quiet conversations at the local watering hole are becoming louder. People are starting to talk, at least where I live, about taking to the streets. Talking about violence, and civil disobedience. People that have lost their jobs, and homes, and feel like there's nothing left to lose. Talking about pulling money out of the banks, and defaulting on credit cards. They are talking openly about fire arms, and ammunition. They are beginning to wonder what side law enforcement, or the military will end up on when the "shit hits the fan"... During the course of such conversations, no one is fucking laughing I can assure you.

You know what? It's sounding a little less crazy with each passing day...

34. Keith...what can I say, man?
:yourock:

It's funny, but what the far right so deathly fears -- socialism -- is by its actions is what it's greasing the skids toward. More government regulation. More intervention. You can't deepen and widen the class divide without society caving in on itself. Then all the bonuses, perks, and wealth in the world won't mean shit.

35. Really good stuff.
Meanwhile, CNBC continues it's backing of Wall Street and pounding of Government, the Administration, and hence...You. Other than the GOP right wing conspiracy theory alarmists that I have to listen to all day, CNBC is not conveying "news". It's a GOP/Wall Street opinion and ranting release channel.

People that do not drink the kool aid and watch CNBC all day need to know that they are cheerleaders for Wall Street.

48. The next $750 Billion for the bank fraudsters...
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 05:37 PM by soryang
...is in Obama's budget proposal for fiscal 2011. This is just getting started because they haven't stolen enough yet. This is why Soros says the money centers are on life support. This is the financial coup d'etat. Rather than address the necessary default on so called bank assets that has to take place and controlling it and categorizing what will be paid by taxpayers and what won't as a matter of public policy, a non committal shovelling of trillions will go on and on. Protecting the powerful rather than addressing the financial fraud directly and distinguishing it from legitimate commercial obligations which need to be supported.

In this way a three year fiscal crisis with a gradual recovery becomes a ten to fifteen year depression with the Stalinesque protection of the elite wrongdoers.
