1. I know a family that has the flag in front of their home at half mast
They have since shortly after the war began. When people ask them why, they don't hesitate to tell them they will raise it when the troops all come home from Iraq.
Should be the campaign slogan of a candidate audacious enough to use it.
"My first act as president will be to lower the flag to half mast. It will remain at half mast in honor of the sacrifice of our troops and my support for them until the last one is out of Iraq and Afghanistan. It will also demonstrate to the world our resolve not to remain an occupying force."
A great photo op of the president lowering the flag to half mast.
Like MacArthur said "I shall return", once the statement is made it cannot be an empty one.
I think Richardson would nost likely be the candidate to use it.
