7. Simpson's Contract Says No Censorship by Fox
The great thing is that the creators of The Simpsons years ago negotiated a clause in their contract with Fox/Newscorp saying that they had complete creative control over the show. Therefore, they can abuse Murdoch and Fox without censorship by their parent company. Of course, it only works because The Simpsons are very profitable to the company.

8. If the Simpsons weren't profitable....
...I doubt they'd have got Murdoch to provide his own voice, introducing himself as "Rupert Murdoch, billionaire and tyrant".

Where Bart was writing on the board, "I will not visit liberal websites named after me." Damn sorry I missed it.

There was a funny part where they made it look like Faux censors had edited out what Homer and Bart were saying.

19. Fox Threatened to Sue Itself Over Simpsons' Parody of FoxNews
"Fox Nearly Sued Itself Over 'Simpsons' Parody
29 October 2003

Rupert Murdoch's Fox News Channel threatened to sue the makers of "The Simpsons" over a parody of the channel's right-wing political stance, the creator of the hit US television show has claimed. In an interview this week with National Public Radio, Matt Groening recalled how the news channel had considered legal action, despite the fact that "The Simpsons" is broadcast on sister network, Fox Entertainment.

According to Groening, Fox took exception took a Simpsons' version of the Fox News rolling news ticker which parodied the channel's anti-Democrat stance, with headlines like "Do Democrats Cause Cancer?" "Fox fought against it and said they would sue the show," Groening said. "We called their bluff because we didn't think Rupert Murdoch would pay for Fox to sue itself. So, we got away with it."

Other satirical Fox news bulletins featured in the show included: "Study: 92 per cent of Democrats are gay... JFK posthumously joins Republican Party... Oil slicks found to keep seals young, supple..." While the lawsuit never materialized, Groening said some action was taken. "Now Fox has a new rule that we can't do those little fake news crawls on the bottom of the screen in a cartoon because it might confuse the viewers into thinking it's real news," he said. "

I hope Groening isn't playing by that rule. Very sad if he is. (And kinda lame article for not clarifying whether Groening had submitted to Fox's internal censorship.)

23. Are they serious?
"might confuse the viewers into thinking it's real news"

Any viewer who is watching a long-running ANIMATED show and thinks a news crawl on it is real news has got BIG problems.

37. Honestly, I doubt you could find much difference between a regular ...
... Faux News crawl and a fake one. They already read as ridiculous and self-satirical, so I *do* think it could be confusing (kinda like some Onion articles make you wonder) -- but is certainly no reason for Simpsons to stop pointing out the quality of Faux News.

29. Liberals! Woohoo!
I just watched this an hour ago and it had me rolling. I am suprised they got away with it on FOX, but these days, I should have expected it to happen eventually. American Dad and Family Guy also hit the right wing hard and ironically, both of FOX.
