MSNBC Countdown w/ KEITH OLBERMANN - May 19, 2009: Still Bushed!! - Karen Hughes found a conscience? Oh, no.

Kpete post on this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5686584&mesg_id=5686584

KEITH: "Now-You-Say-It-Gate. A second member of the Bush administration has now revealed misgivings about torture, sadly misgivings she did not make public at the time. Karen Hughes, a member of the White House Iraq Study Group from 2002-2004, tells the Houston Chronicle 'I was very vocal in the internal debate. I was very worried about how that would make us look in the eyes of the world. But I had left the White House when a lot of that was taking place.'

Nice. Ms. Hughes indeed left the White House in 2004. She left it so that she could go work on Mr. Bush's re-election campaign. After that, she went back to the White House to run Bush's effort to win the hearts and minds of the Middle East.

So when was it that you were worried? And when was it that you weren't working for Mr. Bush? And how long did you ignore your conscience and not say anything? And what were you thinking when you left the White House and went back to selling this man to the country and said: 'I think after September 11th the American people are valuing life more and realizing that we need policies to value the dignity and worth of every life and really the fundamental difference between us and the terror network we fight is that we value every life.'"

1. More like, she wants to make sure that if a dragnet catches her,....
she gets thrown back in, 'cause she's not one of those bad fish. In a weird way I respect Cheney more because at least he has the moxie to flaunt his wickedness and defend it. Hate that SOB; for someone like Hughes I feel little but contempt.

2. Hughes is a toady, an opportunistic, coattails grabbing, self-important toady.
I detest her and everything she stands for.

4. She believes that
"one nation, under God" is in the Constitution. No credibility. None.

5. Maybe. But I believe something told her that she is likely to get
hauled into a courtroom to testify her role in torture-gate. Senator Whitehouse said yesterday that the report from the Justice Department is coming out "any day". When it does, most of the rats will go running for cover. The s*** is going to hit the fan soon, and these repugs accusing Pelosi of "being in the know" will become a moot point. Repug talking points--gone. Hughes has no excuses.
