For Memorial Day (ANZAC DAY as it's called in Australia and New Zealand, or Remembrance Day as it's known in Canada and the UK.

This was written about the ANZAC(Australian and New Zealand) troops who died in the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I, the first major overseas battle involving these forces.

The battle was such a hideous disasater, Winston Churchill, then First Sea Lord in the wartime British cabinet(the equivalent to our Secretary of the Navy)had to resign in disgrace.

This is for all soldiers who died due to the arrogance and stupidity of their superiors.

6. Also an Eric Bogle song . . .
How (and under what circumstances) did it get hijacked? Given the lyrics ("or was it slow and obscene") I'd think that'd be impossible.

4. Thanks for posting this on Memorial Day.
This is a day on which we should be reflecting on the futility and enormous human toll of war not the glory of it. Sadly this is a lesson that humanity has not yet learned.
