No, Obama did not say “America is the best nation that ever existed in history, and clearly that exists today,” as Cheney wishes. But she essentially wants him to stand in front of a room full of foreigners and say, “We’re better than you.” This is exactly the kind of cowboy diplomacy that has hurt America’s relationship with its allies over the last eight years and ultimately its standing in the world.

2. American exceptionalism is dominionist bullshit
It's a dangerous neo-con ideology that is only shared by the likes of AEI think tankers and juvenile, uneducated simps whose world view of America will always resemble that of a 1940's propaganda movie.

3. Don't they have any clue whatsoever that the whole "America is the greatest ever"
Bullshit is part of a lot of people hating us? How incredibly arrogant and yet oblivious can a country be?

4. What Obama calls "American exceptionalism"
What President Obama calls "American exceptionalism" in those remarks is hardly the same, offensive thing that Dick Cheney means by it.

You've got it pegged right, it's the sense that "we're better than you" and "our interests are all that matters, and you should understand and appreciate what we do even if we are bombing the crap out of your cities."

To Cheney, American exceptionalism also means "it's tyranny except when America does it; it's imperialism except when America does it; it's terrorism except when America does it; it's tortute except when America does it . . . ."

10. The 'liz & dick show'
Do these clowns, as well as the other remaining tele/radio-right-mongers, at last purpose themselves only for out and out treason? How close to Nazi/Stalin-ism does it need to get? How close to "lies are truth" 1984-ism does it need to get? Can/will the current government security forces really protect its citizens, or even itself, from this sort of "domestic enemy"?

Please bear with me a bit because this is the "enemy from within" which we all thought we were immune to because we were the United States of America.

We all know people who are essentially "average Joes" except they have become addicted to the propaganda from the right. In their extreme they're incapable of rational thinking anymore. They're ripe for the harvest when right wing extreme "movers and shakers" will require, at least, their tacit approval, their turning of the blind eye, if not their raving, lustful co-operation as the worm again turns (Perhaps as soon as 2012). The red states, currently, have been, by a LARGE extent, successfully fomented into the same mindless mob that coalesced into the rebel army of the other civil war. In the Old South tensions between the races run tighter than in decades. In the most unforgiving, anti-progressive city in the country (Jacksonville Florida) this is very plain to see every day.

As ugly a proposition as it is the fact remains. So long as the potential exists for media influence by the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh or Fox and (FOR GOD SAKES WHAT'S UP WITH C-SPAN? How can the republic be composed of 60%-80% progressives and C-SPAN interviews go 30/70, dems/reps?), there is no commonality in the information base. An element that is essential for constructive, civil discourse.

Without an honest broker who will intercede? I would even take Spiro Agnew's word over these characters.

6. You understand what is being asked., of course.
The other night on Fox, a clear discussion.

American Exceptionalism actually refers the moral equivalency issue.

American Exceptionalism essentially means we are always correct or at
least never publicly admit we make mistakes.

Means we are never to be compared in an equivalent way to another nation.
we are exceptional.

According to some, you do not utter Palestine and Israel in the same
sentence. There is no moral equivalency.

has cost a lot of Americans their lives, in Iraq. We have a big stake in demolishing that noxious doctrine.

11. Just who the f--- is Liz Cheney anyway? I'll tell you...........
.........she is the daughter of the worst war criminal since Pol Pot. She is the daughter of probably the only treasonous Vice President this country has ever had. She is the daughter of a war profiteer.

That's who she is. And she would be flipping burgers or greeting Walmart shoppers if Daddy Warbucks didn't get her a job. She has zero qualifications whatsoever.

the last administration for their country. It's amazing they can still tout patriotism after all the damage they caused. Love and pride for a nation comes through doing right by its people. So far, in most part President Obama has done that. I think President Obama was more defining exceptionlims by love and pride for his nation than unilateral force. More the nation's exceptional character.
