Church posts controversial ‘gay exorcism’ video

A Connecticut church posted a controversial video on YouTube showing leaders of the church berating a teenager in what appears to be an attempt to “exorcise” his gay “demons,” which received widespread treatment across the web on Wednesday. Fox61.com reported:

The video features church elders performing what looks like an exorcism, of what they refer to in the video as “homosexual demons.”

The video shows leaders of the Manifested Glory Ministries in a frenetic scene, screaming, “Right now I command you to leave!”

At the same time a teen writhing on the ground as the adults around him implore so called “homosexual demons” to get out. The leaders yell at the boy on the ground saying, “Right now in the name of Jesus, I call the homosexuality, right now in the name of Jesus.”

For 20 minutes it continues with the boy in a near seizure, even vomiting.

1. Yeah, it's the teen who needs to change.

Not the fully grown adults trampling around him, shouting absurdities to their sky daddy and asking that omnipotent being to convert his sexual orientation. If god was really that powerful and god really hated homosexuality, you'd think that those grown ass adults wouldn't need to make absolute fools out of themselves in order to get the gay out. There is no difference between these people and the snake handlers (or Scientologists, for that matter). They believe in things that most children would laugh at, given a decent upbringing. To call these people ignorant would be far too kind.

3. I feel so awful for this boy

He will still be gay living with massive guilt thinking there is some demon inside of him. He will probably end up killing himself. Im sorry but that was child abuse! They should all be arrested. That kid should be taken away. This is awful....I feel sick

4. One of my single greatest frustrations as a Christian...

...is that it's not uncommon to have "love" and "guilt" taught in equal doses.

That is, you are loved unconditionally and God only wants what's best for you, but you are also a sinner who must be punished.

And once again, I am making that statement as a Christian, specifically as one who was raised a Catholic, so that's from my personal experience and what I've witnessed in my own life and the lives around me. I'm not asking anyone to agree with it.
