2. Brought tears to my eyes on a Sunday morning.
Remember all the talk about "the Arab Street" -- a journalistic code word for public opinion in the Middle East?

Well, we're the American Street. And the American Street is solidly behind the Iranian election protesters of 2009. Mourning Neda. Angry at the basiji bullies.

Obama has to be cautious and guarded because of past American incursions on Iranian/Persian independence. And we're glad he is stepping softly.

But the American Street is wearing green arm bands and wishing we could do more for the Iranians protesting a blatantly stolen election.

...On June 24, Iranian Superstar Andy Madadian went into an LA recording studio with Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and American record producers Don Was and John Shanks to record a musical message of worldwide solidarity with the people of Iran. This version of the old Ben E. King classic is not for sale - it was not meant to be on the Billboard charts or even manufactured as a CD. It's intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people to give voice to the sentiment that all people of the world stand together. The handwritten Farsi sign in the video translates to "we are one"...

5. I once said (to a youngster) that this song
performed by Ben E. King was the greatest Rock & Roll song
ever performed (and I am old enough to have heard them all).
There is something extraordinary about this simple theme.
It is, in any event, my all time favorite.

Here "Stand By Me" is well done, yet with a
different and political sentiment.
Yet still, through the artists skill it evokes the powerful emotive
simplicity of the original. I approve.
