Governor Dean is always so insightful and I'm so glad that KO gave him the credit he deserves... :applause:

This was so awesome.

The MSM always parades out the corporatists Emmanuel and Schumer. It's such a damn shame that Dr. Dean doesn't get the credit he so richly deserves for his 50-state strategy.

When watching this stuff, I always think about what I wish that they'd say... But, so far, it's only happened with Rachel and Jack Cafferty, LOL. Since these folks are paid to know about these things, how come we know and they don't seem to? That's long been my question...:shrug: :-(

They're not providers of information, but gatekeepers for what frames for the information are allowed.

But I do understand what you mean. When I used to write about TV, wrote descriptions and recommendations for network programming, we were told to aim for a sixth grade level... :-(

And I remember when it came out that Bush*, who launched a war, for Christ's sake, didn't know that there were opposing sects in Iraq, didn't know the difference between Sh'ia and Sunnis. I even knew that, though I had no need to. But he sure did! :banghead:

That's why so many people use the interwebs to get our information, because the corporate media either can't or won't. Like Malloy says, TV's job is to make you forget. That's why Bush* was able to use talking points and photo ops to basically govern after 9/11. They used the moment, the RW scream machine, to take advantage of their opportunity.

I didn't really follow politics all that closely during the Clinton administration. There was a Democrat in the White House, so I didn't much worry about it. So it was a bit jarring after Bush* came in that he got handled so gently by the same people who were so hard on Clinton because they were afraid of the charge "liberal media, liberal media." I expected Bush to be treated the same as Clinton. Boy, was I surprised.

I guess my point is that we're getting a little bit of an echo of what happened to Clinton, but Obama's team is better organized and now there's the netroots to sort of keep the MSM honest. And we have Keith, Rachel, Malloy, Randi, Thom -- voices we didn't have before.

Where it's going, I don't know. I haven't thought that far ahead. Lol.

And now there's not that problem of "access" which was the excuse that they used under Bush*... :-(

Maybe it is the "dumbing down" for the sixth grade mentality. But even sixth graders can handle more than hearing TV news about celebrity divorces and the like. That's one of the reasons I admire and respect Dan Rather. He was anchor when I was dealing with CBS and his publicist was my main news contact. Dan Rather would have none of this crap that better belongs in the gossip rags. He would only do "hard news," which is the way it should be. There are plenty of places where fans can access the other stuff. Of course, we know what happened with him... ;(

As for Clinton, I wasn't paying much attention then, either. All I knew was that I finally voted for a president who actually won!!! :wow:

And President Clinton is hardly a "liberal," LOL. It used to send me over the edge when CNN would show a headline saying "Is Hillary Clinton too liberal?!" Um, no, she's more of a centrist, just like her husband... :eyes:

I didn't take much of an interest in politics until 9/11 woke me up. Before, my eyes would kind of glaze over if it got real complicated. And I guess that these are the kind of viewers that the MSM is appealing to. But after what's happened in the world and this country in the last eight years, I can't understand how anyone could tune it out now... :shrug:

I don't know what's going to happen now, either. I'm a lot less scared than I was, but I'm still not optimistic. I mean, there is just so much! I think that Obama is the right man for the right time, but he can't do everything at once and needs the help of the best and the brightest (like Dr. Dean!) and that includes Congress!:eyes:

I remember seeing all the candidates lined up on the stage, all running for POTUS. And I remember thinking, who in the hell would want this job now, with this country in such an ungodly mess... ;(

I believe that those seeking the truth turned to the internets as a result of the obfuscation of Bush*. But what's the excuse now? :shrug:

Because people can't tune it out. People want stability and hate chaos. And there seems to be real substance to this man Obama. He seems to be running a confident, capable, grown up operation, dealing with actual reality instead of trying create his own. There's no bimbo eruptions, no money scandals. There's nothing for the screamers to scream about. There's no overarching narrative for them to fit all of their little innuendo pieces under.

But we all want what we want and we want it right now. Some want DADT suspended, still in-force but not acted on. Some want prosecutions of the people who ordered torture instead of just the grunts that carried it out. I mean, the list is endless. I think maybe those groups are driving the continued need for the Internet. And as you said, the media isn't telling people anything that makes sense. We had Ensign, Sanford, and now Palin and MJ, all in quick succession, all great stories for sex, money, scandal -- all things TV needs to spike the number of eyeballs. It takes appealing to the sixth graders. They like candy, not broccoli.

We have a lot going for us, especially people like Dr. Dean. In fact, I've been meaning to try to find video of that healthcare conference they just had. I keep getting distracted...

We desperately need him and his insight in whatever capacity that it would take to straighten out some of the myriad problems that this country is facing right now. :shrug:

And I caught the "Jeopardy" remark, LOL. When I saw some of these, Bob Woodward got trounced because he_______talks_______ so_______slowly. ;)

He's obviously an authority and a huge resource. Do we have a Surgeon General yet? Who would be better qualified? He should at least hold a cabinet position or function as an official advisor... *sigh* :-(

Because he pissed off Rahm with his fifty state strategy. Rahm wanted the same old same old concentrating on just the major states. That's why Howard didn't get HHS.
