30 months for what amounts to treason (and no, that's not just a nasty word, Plame's status and position mean people have probably died over this little trick) is actually extraordinarily leinient.

They're also lying about Clinton's lying. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure articles of impeachment were being drawn up before the interview in which he lied ever took place. Someone with Lexis access want to check?

but Clinton never actually lied, he decieved and he dissembled, but he answered the question honestly given his understanding of the meaning of "sexual relations." I think it was stupid and ultimately self-defeating, but it goes to show how much Republicans wanted to "get" Clinton they thought they had the noose around his neck and when he slipped out the Republicans were so frustrated they decided to impeach anyways.

But the perception (which is all that matters in politics these days) remains nonetheless.

The sentence that was grossly excessive was the 46 day sentence handed down to that sweet love child Paris Hilton. My God man, do you realize she had to suffer thru 4 days in a special celebrity cell and wear an orange jump suit?????? And she had a medical condition so hush hush, they wont even talk about it. Hang nails? Thats why they had to set her free and send her home where it is hoped she will learn her lesson by watching HD TV, having her chef cook for her and the ability to have her friends over in the evening for Party Time.

When one has a medical condition in jail or prison one either suffers or dies.

Pain, mental anguish, depression -- the response of the prison/jail medical establishment is "What do you expect, you're in jail!"
