They are talking about subsidies - basic assistance to the middle class with their health care costs.
They really must hate the working and middle class to play this political game with health care.

Gregg (R-NH)

1. frankly, good
let's remove the idea that employer-paid health care is a tax-free benefit. that's what's kept the country from single payer for way too long. it's a remnant of the wage control acts during WWII, let's get rid of it and discuss the real cost of health care in the United States. why should your employment status, or what employer you are lucky enough to get employment from, determine the quality of your health care? it's absurd on the face of it. my colleagues with children and spouses are paid, de facto, more than I am for the exact same job (because their families are covered by insurance paid for by our employer) how is that fair? why are you paid more because you have a family? in what world does that make sense?

2. Why are we framing the public option with this model of only if.....
The point of having access to health care is only that. No strings attached.

3. rethugs are actual or wannabe elitists that believe they are truly privileged.
The rest of US deserve little or nothing; so they believe.

4. I find it ever-ironic that the people arguing and deciding our health care, ALL HAVE HEALTHCARE

Let 'em eat cake - cupcake.

5. Can anyone tell me what 250% below poverty level is this week?
Poverty level for 2008 is 10,400. %250 of Poverty level is 26,000 %300 percent is $31,200. So are these the figure that they want to use? Why am I asking this? This is a stupid plant that doesn't account for single payer. This is make work for the Senators to make it look like they actually do anything.

7. That's YOUR goal...you f*cking dog!
Who said we were trying to give it to JUST the poor, or unemployed?? This country needs it for EVERYONE who wishes to have it.

What an ass wipe.

Why must we be #32 in taking care of our sick and ailing in this nation?? What a bunch of ass hats!

8. I love it when Republicans pretend to be fiscally responsible.
They don't believe in fiscal responsibility; they're republicans. They believe in rampant, completely unproductive and unchecked deficit spending. This spending is a means through which to cripple the government so severely that it will be impossible to provide the middle class with benefits such as health care, education, social security, etc.
