Summary: Cenk plays and then breaks down a video of Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen arguing that her state should try to dig for uranium because after all, the earth has been around for 6,000 years! (Trust me, it made just as little sense to me). The only thing that makes less sense is unrecommending a video BEFORE you watch it...you know who you are. ;)

Watch:

PS---Cenk finally caved in and really started using Twitter. Follow TYT on Twitter here: http://twitter.com/TheYoungTurks

6. Just for the record...
The Earth is over 4 billion years old, and it has gone kaput several times in that history. There have be several mass exstinctions....one where 95% of all life was extinguished.

7. The Oxygen Catastrophe: A Good One to Know!

Especially in light of the current climate discussions, this is one bit of our planet's history of which no world leader, and not one Representative and Senator should be allowed to remain ignorant. As this article from Damn Interesting so eloquently puts it:

In the billions of years since the first ice age, the environment has been dramatically altered on numerous occasions by greenhouse gases which trap heat; by shifting tectonic plates which reroute ocean currents; by our sun's varying radiation levels; and by volcanic activity which alters the atmosphere. But at least once in Earth's long history, its own occupants seem to have unwittingly brought all life to the brink of extinction.

8. With her "point" that the Earth made it 6,000 years without environmental laws,
I actually prefer her thinking it's 6,000 years old. How narrow minded do you have to be to actually really believe the world is 6,000 years old?

Anyway, I enjoy watching TYT again, thanks Tom!!
