1. Difficult to believe that even the stupidest of the stupid would

fall for this vicious claptrap, but apparently they do. YELLING seems to be a big part of the act -- "I know I'm peddling absurd nonsense, but if I yell loud enough, people will think it's the truth -- or at least be bullied into agreeing with me."

Do people on the left ever YELL like this? I've missed it, if they do. We know the gooshy Repubs seek authority figures -- maybe yelling is all it takes to fill the bill? No logic required to be a wingnut commentator, just an obnoxiously loud delivery of hate speech.

7. My dad always does that. I made him mad one day when I told him ...
just because you're loud doesn't mean you're right. He got all flustered and couldn't go on because he kept starting to get loud again then tried to check himself and it didn't work. I loved it!

13. Ha! Has he sent out audition tapes for hosting a radio show???
That line about "they just want somebody with ovaries who's Puerto Rican" is so offensive, but OxyRush says it so LOUDLY and with such CONVICTION that a normal person (unlike me, who's on DU 16/7) might assume there's some truth to it.

A regular citizen wouldn't take the time to mentally flip that line on its head and say "So, Rush, you don't care who it is, just so it's a rich white Republican anti-choice male just like all the others."

Rush is so skilled at what he does, and what he does is so evil. Deliberately misleading people would be a terrible way to make a living, imo, even WITH vacafornications in the Dominican Republic or wherever.

2. Sums up why this country is permanently divided forever
in my opinion. It's also why I see NO reason to be bipartisan or to compromise with the Republican party.

6. I agree, There is no reason to extend a hand to a party,
that has never intended to compromise nor do they care about helping the poor or the working class.

8. you know, I think that might be the way to go!
the conservatives who need to follow convention and authority don't respond too well to well thought out reason. Simplified slogans, repetition and a rule-based, reward/punishment authority figure seems to be what they need (preachers fill that role perfectly; brilliant of the GOP to use the fundies to their ends).

We need to stop trying to argue sense into them, but discredit their mouthpieces with simple repetition.

5. I was agreeing with them
until I realised they were talking about Obama and not Bush. Hard to believe they can find fault with any administration that follows the most openly corrupt in the history of the Western world. Can somebody send me the video of Obama telling us all to "just die already"? Where are they getting this crap?

10. About why people become doctors.
Edited on Fri Jul-17-09 01:25 PM by JDPriestly
My daughter decided to become a doctor at age five, yes five. That was long, long before she understood that some were rich and some were poor. At the time, we lived in a country in which doctors fared well financially but she did not know that.

She decided to become a doctor because our family doctor was such a wonderful person and took a great interest in her. And by the way, our family doctor's office was near our home so she would make house calls if our children were sick.

Studying as long and hard and getting the kinds of grades and test scores that you have to have to make it all the way through medical school and residency takes a kind of commitment that has nothing to do with greed or even caring at all about money. Doctors do not become doctors because of the financial rewards although I do think that some of them stay in the profession in part because it pays well. (Not my daughter, but some.)

So, a public health care plan will not affect whether people become doctors.

12. Some doctors are in it for the money.
And some doctors are incompetent, and they maim & kill people. They are often the same.

And some of these become Senators.

14. Obama wants people to die?
It seems to me it is the insurance companies want the sick to die young so they don't have to pay for their treatment.
