Is this what they plan on doing at all of them?

edit to add this from the link-

Rep Doggett met with constituents outside a grocery store in south Austin regarding the health care bill. Apparently the event was mostly advertised in liberal leaning local publications. He did not bring a megaphone, so hearing what he had to say was difficult. When he started making the move to leave, the crowd erupted chanting "Just say no!" His worker got the car ready to shuttle him away but the crowd surrounded it and it took a while for him to get out of the parking lot. The whole time, the "Just say no!" chant continued. It probably won't matter - from his facial expression, body language, and what was heard to come out of his mouth, he's for the the health care bill in its present form and has no openness to change on that.

(Ten thousand megapardons for the out of focus video - the D90 does not autofocus when shooting video and no shorter lens was handy to throw on the camera.)

17. I'm not sure I understand your question.
Are you asking why I'm assuming that they're Republicans?

Read their signs. "No Government Health Care". "No Government Counselor in my Home!" And they're chanting "just say no". I think it's safe to assume that most of the people in this crowd are Republican.

41. Oh, you're assuming. Hey, not all Dems are for this bill. It's an insurance company giveaway.

53. That's not what they're protesting.
No, I am not assuming that all Dems are for "this bill". I'm not even sure what "this bill" is yet. There are different versions and even those will probably change before it's settled.

Read their signs. They are not protesting an insurance company giveaway. It appears to be an unfocused protest against government involvement in general. In other words, it's a protest in favor of private insurance. That's fine. That's their right. But I think you may be misunderstanding what they're protesting.

50. You should watch the video. It will certainly answer your question.
I am being kind and giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are not that stupid. So, to keep things civil, let's assume that you commented without watching the video and just automatically drew some kind of assumption that anybody who has been educating themself about the healthcare issue would never draw.

51. ALERT. ALERT.
"Just say no". It is a pretty simple concept and may actually catch on. I am being serious here. We seem to be letting this slip away and the Repukes are good at gathering the masses, keeping it simple and staying on message. Give them some time and they can use it effectively. Not only that, but they are pretty well practiced at Saying "No", so this might be an easy one to follow.

15. Are there other ways to get the word out? What they are doing here is
making sure that no one hears to truth about the health care bills. Think about all those emails we get from the rw. there are a lot email addresses on those. Is there a way to turn this back on them? We could also buy more ads than they do. I don't know but at this point I think Gov. Perry had a good idea - at least that group of people should secede from the union. They deserve to be on their own.

21. nothing rational about tea-baggers or birthers
it offends my sensibilities to think about resorting to Republican/business marketing techniques because it treats citizens (people/constituents/voters) as merely numbers/targeted objects/means to an end... But as we have become a society that thinks primarily in term of dollars... (I feel like we live in a parallel universe along side the conservatives)

when I see a Monty Python skit I haven't seen before, I realize how lacking my life is... funny though and funnier also because I used to have a manfriend that was a Black Watch WWI reenactor and he played the bagpipes so well (that and the kilt were the only things I missed about him) Well, I admit, I did get to see the real Black Watch in action also... If this is how the public plans to attend town halls, then I guess they will shut themselves out. Such angry, ignorant butt heads. I hope this representative goes with WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY, and F*CK these bozos. I would be so upset if I were him. You have to remember..this is most likely a minority of the people he represents, but being loud and rude is what the right wing does best.

47. Deja Vu - Florida 2000

Remember this?

All the Repugs need is one video like this one from Texas. MSM will be playing this all of August. All they need is one such display of ignorance and they'll turn it into a big deal and say that people everywhere are reacting like this.

This is organized and stage for effect. I went to a Town Hall in the Chicago Area about 2 weeks ago - a Dem Congressman that borders on being a Blue Dog. He still hasn't declared whether he is for a strong 'public option' yet.

Anyway - at least one attendee at that Town Hall was carrying a "Don't Thread On Me" flag like the one in the video from Texas.
There were about 300 people at the Town Hall I attended and I would say about 90% supported the public option.

What are we going to do about outbreaks like this? I think the Repugs will stage these all over the country over this recess.

We can yell louder and there's more of us that want this than don't. We need to fight fire with fire. Yell louder and maker bigger signs.

This gathering was meticulously planned by the GOP - notice the nice clothing and well-fed upper-middle classers. Prolly coordinated from Dallas area churches. But if these folks are Austinites they must be from the far north section. It's just all too wierd.
