3. It's funny because I would like to put some funny stickers on my bike crate
I live in a liberal area, so I imagine people would know I was joking if I had "Sarah 2012" or something to that effect. But my partner says that my tires would probably get slashed. I just don't understand the need to silence someone else's statement, although in the last election, I did want to query some of the McCain/Palin sign putter-uppers that I saw. I just couldn't fathom what would possess them. It's not that kind of town.

17. I suspect that any RW sign is being closely monitored ...
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 06:57 PM by zbdent
so that they could have plenty of "evidence" that "lefties" are evil ...

mind you, there was a lot of calls for "forgiveness" for a "childish prank" in 2008 in the Akron Ohio area ... when a FREAKING EAGLE SCOUT, 18 years old, stole over a hundred Obama signs (note: not one McCain sign) ... the father was quoted as saying something to the effect of "Hey, I hope this won't haunt him for the rest of his life!"

Come freaking on ... it's been decades since I memorized the Boy Scout oath ... and I believe it had something to do with being honest and trustworthy, and didn't the citizenship badge have something to do with NOT BREAKING THE LAW??? (stealing???)

23. Not if a person removed signs from public property
I saw lots of people pulling astroturfed signs planted in medians. It saves the DOT the time of doing it. Dosnt matter who put it there or what it says. McCain, Obama, or "we buy houses CASH $$$$". Signs should go in peoples own yards, which that was pretty clearly not.

Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 05:14 PM by Cronus Protagonist
Clearly, putting someone's trash on someone else's property is not free speech, it's littering.

9. Major Cook is the latest patsy client of Oily Taint
He volunteered to be deployed (completely voluntary). He then got orders to deploy to (I believe) Afghanistan. He then had Oily file suit to get out of being deployed based on the concept that President Obama is NOT commander in chief. The Army decided that filing suit was the same as un volunteering and so they let him out of the deployment. They also decided that his filing suit was not conducive to his continuing his service as a civilian working at a military facility (they yanked is on base authorization). His military contractor then fired his ass because they can't use someone that can't work on base.

Monumental stupid.

But then, that's a birther for you.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid and not worth repeating.

10. Actually, it appeared that those signs were NOT
on either public property (where anyone could call the county to remove them) nor on the moron's private property (the moron with the camera... unless he was also the mini mall owner). Probably they were placed there illegally (without the permission of the mall owner, said mall owner would likely violate lots of tenant rental contracts by allowing such signage on his property). So the guy removing them is doing the mall owner a favor. Better would have been to call the management company and ask if they could be removed free of charge...

and, after getting the go ahead, to use one to accidentally smash the face and camera of the moron.

11. Hi there and welcome to DU
There seem to be a lot of folks posting for nearly the first time today... if I didn't know better (and perhaps I don't) I would say that we are being treated like a town hall meeting for democratic representatives.

Anyway, I'm sure that you are not one of those people. But, for the future, instead of posting videos of someone you identify as a "liberal" (when, in fact, he never ever says that he IS a liberal), perhaps you might want to think twice, or post it elsewhere.

BTW, we are all LIBERALS here. All of us.

16. In defense of the poster, "Liberal" is in the title of the YouTube, subject line same as tube title.
Not that I support the act, or the poster of the tube, or the OP.

But I do understand that it may be as simple as posting the tube title verbatim.

Which is much better than others have done, write an inflammatory subject line title for an article that isn't.

13. camera wielding mouth breather. stupid.
taking down the signs may or may not have been that guy's right. but it probably wasn't the right of whoever put them there to go do that in the first place if it wasn't their own property.

15. If the idiot stuck the signs on public or private property, and the property...
was NOT his, or he didn't have permission
of the store/landowner, then our guy had
EVERY RIGHT to remove them.

They're NOT campaign signs, so there
is no protection of them.

18. When we put signs in the ground the police are there in no time.
Where I live it doesn't matter if it is public or private property, if you don't personally own the land you can not put any signs in the ground without approval. We have tried putting signs in the ground before and the police have been there to tell us to take them down within minutes. I don't know who the guy is that took the signs down and I have no reason to believe he is even a liberal. The fact is that if you don't own the property that you place a sign on the chances are almost certain that your sign will be taken down and the person taking it down will most likely be within their rights. If the crazy birther guy who made the video stood out on the sidewalk just off the mall property and held his sign he would be well within his rights, but he has no right to put up signs wherever he wants to and expect it to stay there. If we could do that I would have signs all over the place.

24. Unless the cracker who posted the signs or the hick douchebag running the camera own the mall...
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 10:09 AM by Barrymores Ghost
...then this is nothing more than a case of a guy getting caught picking up worthless litter and putting it where it belongs: in the garbage. He should have said as much, told the iglonent redneck birther prick with the camera to get a job, and dared him to call the cops.

Case fucking closed.

25. since i have NO idea who the sign picker-upper was and what
authority he had or did not have to do so, i cannot comment on his actions. also, the only indication that i have that he might be liberal is the camera guy called him one. based on the 'liberal's' demeanor, my guess would be that he was cleaning up some trash on his property.

the point is, you can make any assumption you want but may never know, since the subject of the film made no expository comment.
