1. Can you watch that without your eyes filling with tears?
I'm glad his son is back, at least for now, and glad that the network covered the story.

Thanks for posting.

8. Howcome they aren't doing any pieces for balance--
pieces featuring all the pro-war Republican senators whose kids are in Iraq?

9. Very nice; too bad Chip Reid had to misrepresent the story
about what Bush said to Webb Sr. and why they had a conflict.

Gawd I can't stand the corporate media when they behave that way.

10. I caught that, too. More CBA policy for the media.
Cover bush's Ass

So, when are we going to see Jenna or Barbara strolling with Little Boots when they come home from a tour in Iraq? :sarcasm:

19. It's the underwear problem.
The army won't let them wear the "special" underwear; so, naturally, they can't join the service.

14. That is just an awesome Father's Day video, regardless of how the MSM
tried to spin it. Just wonderful. I'm so happy for both of them that they have this time together.

15. Jimmy Webb:
GALVESTON
by Jimmy Webb; recorded by Glen Campbell.

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galveston

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing
While I watch the cannons flashing
I clean my gun and dream of Galveston

I still see her standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run

Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying
Before I dry the tears she's crying
Before I watch your sea birds flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston

Different Jimmy Webb, of course!

18. Sen. Webb on Military Sons and Fathers
Jim Webb’s son just recently returned from Iraq. In honor of Father’s Day, Jim sat down with NPR’s All Things Considered and spoke about the military traditions in families. Audio available at the site. (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11091821)

“They go into the military because they love their country, because they have family traditions - in the case of my family all the way back to the American Revolution,” Webb tells Renee Montagne. “And when the time comes, there’s a sense of obligation among many to live up to the people who went before you.”

23. Did you notice how the guard shook hands twice?
In that segment where the Webbs stopped by the guard booth, the man on duty shook the younger Webb's hand twice -- once during the introduction and then again, quite heartily, when he realized the significance of the son's return home.
