1. Without knowing for sure, we can only guess why the WH never included single payer. Unfortunately,

Taibbi's premise is one explanation as to why it was never on the table in the first place.

So, that puts him in the same class as George W. Bush as far as I am concerned.

I thought he said that health care reform was an issue on which he was willing to risk a second term. Where is that resolve now. Obama needs to tell Max Baucus that there is no way that he is going to get any support from Democrats in his state if he does not support a meaningful public option.

Frankly, the American people cannot afford this give-away to the private insurance industry. Without a public option the whole "reform" is just too expensive.
