I don't thing any German living in the U.S has come her to escape totalitarianism since the 1930's. Then again, DeMint says so, and he aught to know a totalitarian when he sees one, since it often takes one to know one.

next re-election. Get a clue Republicans the sea of change is blue and even conservative Democrats will understand that with time. They can either join the parade of move aside but for whatever noise or fuss they make this change will happen. Current approval means nothing their party is over and more so once people figure the scam they are trying to pull on health care. The game is over and no amount of their chaos or disruption or intimidation will stop that just hasten it.

14. They confuse "regulation" with "tyranny"
The Republicans think that capitalism should be allowed to prevail in all things. They don't think businesses should be subject to any type of sensible regulation or oversight. They think that the Constitution was created to give them superior rights to those of the American people.

Therein lies the problem. They believe that any restrictions, controls or oversight on how corporations conduct their business is a form of tyranny.

First of all the Constitution does not grant any rights or protections to anything other than natural persons, i.e. human beings. I can't imagine this was an oversight on the part of the Founding Fathers. It is only the Supreme Court that has come to recognize that corporations have certain rights including free speech. The decision to grant to non-humans free speech, especially in the form of political speech, sold our Republic down the river. Corporations and all manner of "non-humans" now have the right to engage in political speech which takes the forms of lobbying and political contributions. This was our un-doing as a nation.

There is nothing in any of the health care legislation that suggests you won't be able to select your doctor. But guess what? In order to keep my health care premiums low, the program I am enrolled in from my employer limits my choice of dcotors. I can only select a dcotor that is in the plan. Medicare, which for any lurking Republicans is a government program, does not limit which doctor you can see. So in fact it is private industry that limits your health care choices.

DeMint(ed) goes on about how the government is taking over the automobile industry. What a crock of shit. We all know that without the government's intervention and coaxing from the sidelines neither Chrysler nor GM would likely exist today. The government stepped in and salvaged this industry from certain ruin. We will see that as the economy improves and these companies improve their bottom lines, the taxpayers will in fact get a return on that investment. This was a time for saving jobs and a vital American industry. Don't forget that the domestic manufacturing industry is critical to maintaining our ability to protect the nation in the form of tanks, jeeps, etc.

Further he says the government is going to control energy. I love it when they spout out with no evidence. Again the Obama administration wants to introduce reasonable regulation and an energy policy that moves our nation toward greater autonomy from foreign sources. I don't know we can ever be truly energy independent but we can start by investing in renewable energy sources. I think in future companies need to be regulated in such a way that their activites are not contrary to the best interests of America.

One thing Republicans and any business entity forget is that these entities are not human. They in fact don't exist. They only exist at the discretion of the American people who through their elected officials have given legal recognition and many protections not to mention subsidies and government welfare. All it would take is an activist Congress to pull that legal recognition and POOF they would be faced with a very different situation. There would a great gnashing of teeth. Oh, only that it could happen during my lifetime.

17. lies, lies
I became a Democrat when Ronald Regan ran for President. I watched how he made up his stories to fit his beliefs, and wondered when people would start to call him on it. They never did. Same with Shrub. He told so many lies, it became exhausting to try and uncover the truth. I said a long time ago that the Republicans had learned a big lesson very well...if you tell a lie often enough and with conviction, unthinking people will believe it. They never stop, they will never stop, some one make them stop.
