Watch more at http://www.theyoungturks.com. Sam Seder filling in for Cenk Uygur today.

I like the point Sam made when he said "I can guarantee this man never protested a day under Bush eventhough Bush raised the debt ceiling 5 times". Bush took the national debt from 4 trillion to 10 trillion, but now all of a sudden they have a issue with the debt what lousy hypocrits these people are.

5. I like that phrase "woefully uninformed".
Perhaps "Fox News" could work that into their slogan in place of "fair and balanced".

7. What can we do?
I have watched a number of segments from these so-called protests and listened to the ramblings coming out of these people's mouths.

The first reaction is my jaw drops open that people in this country can be so totally uneducated, no I'll call it for what it is, stupid. There is as Barney Frank said this week no way to engage with these people because they live on another planet.

I have long felt that we have a significant segment of the population that simply are uneducated. We don't challenge our children to grow up to be critical thinkers or to even think for themselves. We don't instill in them an interest in the world around them and the importance of a "liberal" education, an education that grounds them in time and place with literature, history, social studies, etc.

I used to get a laugh when Jay Leno would go out onto the streets in Los Angeles and interview people of all ages only to learn that most of them couldn't name the Vice President of the U.S., pick out a country like Iraq (where so much human life and treasury has been spent) on a map.

But the reality hit me that these people are not only uneducated but don't seem to care that they don't know the most basic facts. So it is no wonder they don't ask hard questions and try to get the facts before taking a position on things.

This guy lacks the capacity for critical thinking. He is on a government run program but in his ramblings it isn't clear he realizes that. He says government employees don't participate in Medicare. That is true. Do you know why? It is because at the time Medicare was enacted, government, especially the federal government, already provided working-life and retirement medical for employees. That program has steadily evolved into an exchange-type system that is in place today. The reason for the Medicare mandate on private employers and their employees is to ensure that those same employees have medical coverage upon retirement.

His callous view that the marketplace will take care of this issue is very sad. Even if we take his assertion that 85% of Americans have coverage what does that mean for the 15% that don't. He says some don't take out coverage because they are young. Fair enough. But he says some are between jobs and can't afford it. Yes, they should just be left to die in the gutter according to him. What he also doesn't even acknowledge is that even those with insurance are vulnerable. All it takes is another down-sizing to be left without a job or insurance. People can't get insurance because of pre-existing conditions. People are dropped by their insurers as they get older or get sick. Some run out of coverage because of life-time caps. People declare bankruptcy due to medical bills.

My question, rhetorical of course, is what can we do about people like him? I don't have an answer. I think if you actually sat him down in a room and got him to listen to you, the facts would cause his head to explode. He couldn't deal with the facts.

9. This guy is just one
of the millions that receive their explanation about the world from Fox News and right wing radio. They really don't have a clue about the reality around them. This is why these corporations have a vested interest in promoting ignorance. Because ignorance is paying off for them in a huge way.

Again, this is entirely a result of an unfair corporate directed M$M. Today on C-Span's Washington Journal it was the same old story. First guest was from the Heritage Foundation explaining why health care reform is ruining the country. After this guest the host read an anti health care reform quote from the Wall Street Journal. Then C-Span had another guest that went on and on about how President Obama's approval ratings are falling fast because of health care proposals. They somehow think we should find this "fair".

Yesterday early evening on CNN it was even worse. Opinions were strictly against health care reform for various reasons.

It all comes down to the corporate media, folks. Do not ask me "Why do you watch TV?" Well, duh. Most Americans receive their information from TV. We should be aware if the message is slanted to manipulate public thinking.

15. The degrees of Doh!
Although the uninformed may fail to know something, it generally takes a complete lack of information, or a malfunctioning brain, to not suspect anything.

But, to have personal experience about a topic and hold an opinion completely at a variance to the facts which you yourself have experienced, and not suspect the incongruity of your own opinion, that usually takes the interference of some less-than-beneficial third party, such as Faux News.
