'CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY' - In Theaters October 2nd

"It's a crime story. But it's also a war story about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course, it's also a love story. Only it's about an abusive relationship.

"It's not about an individual, like Roger Smith, or a corporation, or even an issue, like health care. This is the big enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives — the economy. I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make.

"It's a comedy." — Michael Moore

I love the looks on these crooks faces when they see Michael standing there with microphone in hand and camera in tow. Their body-language say it all.

It is amazing how he get's these people to out themselves, completely against their own will. Michael Moore has truly mastered his art.

13. Liz Warren's face says it all.
The last GS-orchestrated Cash Grab courtesy of the Cheney/Bewsh administration, with the "Inside Man" Paulson and the lapdog Reid/Pelosi congress as assistants, blasted a hole in the debt a mile wide. And for what? To pay bonuses as the skyscrapers and the middle/working/poor classes hopes for a retirement and sustainable living go up in a blaze. T'was a heist. And we did nothing to the guys that drove the getaway car.

I'd like an explanation from these guys also. Something tells me that Mike . . . and the rest of us . . . aren't going to get one.

Considering what Obama was left with, I'd say his administration is doing a better job (albeit with a few stumbling blocks) than people give him credit for. The strength of this health care reform will partly define his legacy. We'll see.

18. true, not horrible considering what he was left with, but why hasn't his justice dept done more &
why has his white house not been harsher on, and less willing to work with the corporations/banks. I'm not impressed with Rahm to say the least also, or the sec. of the treasury.

20. I just saw E Warren
She was in a movie about credit card problems that was just on Cinemax. I can't remember the name, but it was by that Scurlock guy (Supersize Me) and was just a gut-wrenching look at how credit can ruin lives. She was very critical of predatory capitalism.

26. It seems very strange to me...
...that those citizens who possess the moral courage, intestinal fortitude, and some "bully pulpit" from which to speak are seldom challenged on the validity of their claims and opinions but are merely and summarily dismissed as "kooks" by some members of all political parties ~ (think Michael Moore and Dennis Kucinich). Yet, those fearless citizens have their supporters as well...to no avail.

I've come to the conclusion that certain groups of folks find it easier to claim that the purveyors of truth are mentally unbalanced than to produce a cogent argument against their ideas and pronouncements. I believe such groups include those: Who are ignorant of truth; who are predisposed to accept lies as truth; who are willfully ignorant whenever truth contradicts their desires and/or "beliefs"; who know the truth and are forced by their own greed or lust for power to ignore, even subvert, truth; and, those in power who ignore any truth which threatens the status quo and laud those truths likely to keep them in power.

My hope is that the "light" shined by the truth speakers will continue to illuminate the devices and machinations of those in power until the revulsion of ordinary citizens reaches its critical mass and we can say with our votes that we shall suffer fools no longer.

43. So true, friend, so true.
I suppose that each of us can be rational in some of our decisions and completely irrational in others. Religious folks can maintain the completely irrational belief that the omnipotent creator of a trillion galaxy universe came to our little Milky Way, visited our medium sized yellow star, chose the third planet thereabout, and impregnated a jewish virgin, giving humankind a "choice" of eternal bliss or eternal torture. They don't require facts to support that contention; they accept it on the basis of belief...which is their right to do so.

Yet, in other matters the same folks purport and, occasionally, manifest reasonable thought. It seems that that reason can be countermanded by desire, allowing "bullies" the opportunity of persuading those folks in whom reason plays a very small part in decision making.

83. You're on! I'm retiring there.
There is no finer place in the nation than TC. Too conservative, but I will help change that equation. The recreation, the Opera House, the State Theatre, the wineries, the Beach Bums, the shopping, incredible golf and the excellent restaurants - well, it has it all. Oh, that water thing is OK, too. Plus, M22 and Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas . . .

Bought a shirt at the U&I Lounge last weekend, and will wear it proudly here in DC. I will get there for good eventually. When they throw the dirt over me someday, that's where I want it to happen.

Trust me, while it's not a funny topic, if not for the humor you would leave the theater suicidal. There is just enough humor to keep you from slipping into the pit of despair and not enough to undo the clear message.

45. Already the Corporate Useful Idiot Ayn Randers are invading the imdb board for this movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1232207/board/threads/

Why is it that Randists/Paulites/Libertarians/Repukes just cannot let go of their Big Five myths disguised as factual arguments:

Horatio Alger/Entirely Self Made Millionaire
All things REAGAN!
"Teh Red Menace"
Milton Friedman
Government = BAAAAAD!

Arguing with people who cannot and will not stop clinging to these debunked-time-and-time-again myths is the same thing as running into a steel wall over and over and hoping any minute now you'll destroy it. It's all a bunch of blather from wild imaginations or hate-filled fiscally comfortable white males hooked on anecdotal evidence.

Today, in this country, capitalism is nothing more than corruption and greed.

66. I think this is going to be a good one
I'll watch it twice. Once for the great entertainment I know I'll get, and another with my thinking cap on to see if Moore is trying to sell me a load.

68. Michael Moore is an incredible man.
A few years back I was a high school Speech and drama teacher. I screened "Roger and Me" for my seniors the week before they graduated,
One of my students who was barely passing and really did not have a heck of a lot going for her had some questions about the movie.
I told her she should e-mail him.
He replied in less than 24 hours. It truly made her feel fantastic, (she came in and told the whole class about it) and it was one of the highlights of my teaching career.

70. These "Citizens arest" bits make him look stupid.

Sorry, but this tactic gets under many people's craws, including mine. Its types
of confrontations that make many hate Michael Moore.

Personally, he is one of my heroes, but when he acts childish it discredits his whole effort.

Michael, drop the confrontation crap and stick to the content. That is where you soar.

I bet this one will be as good if not better than his other movies!

Btw...the song at the end of the trailer is the "Paper planes" by M.I.A...also found in the slumdog millionaire
the "ching ching" of the money collecting in the cashier's machine was a dead giveaway....

Ps: for the song clip from Slumdog Millionaire
