Unbelievable! A bit surreal...

Stewart was 100% right, The language is clear and explicit!

1. Bookmarking...
...until I can get to a computer with audio. Even without sound this woman comes off like a tool. Her apparent attempts to pander to the audience are extremely annoying.

22. Better quality video available on Comedy Central.
The OP's video looks like it was camcorded from a computer screen so it could be put on youtube, and the sound isn't great.

2. This lady is all show, and a perfect example of someone who
would have more wisely simply allowed herself to look her age. Please observe the showing of the knee at about 1:30-1:40 in the first part. John Edwards should hire her as a clown.

Aside from that, she confides that she has a PhD and has been reading legislation for what did she say? 30 years (sorry, you just wasted all those facelifts, etc. with that admission), but she fails to state the name of her employer:

Since leaving office in 1998, McCaughey has been an adjunct fellow affiliated with the New York office of Hudson Institute, where her areas of specialization include American politics, constitutional law, and health care policy. McCaughey is also on the board of directors of the Cantel Medical Corporation, which bills itself as "dedicated to infection prevention and control."<57>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy_McCaughey

Part of the answer lies in the core group of conservative foundations that have been funding organizations like AEI, Heritage, Hudson, Hoover, and Cato. These include, among others, the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, the Smith Richardson Foundation, the Sarah Scaife Foundation (and the Scaife-affiliated Carthage and Allegheny Foundations), the Earhart Foundation, the Castle Rock Foundation, the John M. Olin Foundation, and the Koch Industries-affiliated Charles G. Koch Foundation, David H. Koch Foundation, and Claude R. Lambe Foundation. Between them, they have assets of about $1.2 billion, with only two of them, the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation and the Smith Richardson Foundation, managing to make it on the US-based Foundation Center's list of the top 100 charitable foundations by asset size. The former ranks 86th with nearly $580 million in assets in 2001, and the latter 96th, with around $540 million in assets in 2000.

In other words, Betsy is a paid shill. I find her style to be pre-women's lib. She apparently found John Stewart quite attractive. I'm sure he is very flattered.

14. I could venture a guess to that question.
In her mind comics are dumb people that say funny things, and by extension smart people don't say funny things...
She has no clue but funny people are mostly intelligent people with quick minds....Stwert just took her to school.

It appears that she thought she could outsmart Stewart. He really handled her beautifully. Conservative guests often under estimate his intelligence.

35. I thought she could hardly talk because of the stiffness of her upper lip.
That suggest at the least botox. Also, the flesh in her cheeks, etc. appeared to me to be stretched. Normally, our flesh loosens a bit as we age. In a woman as thin as she is, I would expect the flesh under to have disappeared somewhat. That is what causes our faces to sag. I am often compelemented on my skin, but one of the first things I noticed as I began to age in my late 40s was that slight sagging around my mouth and chin. I also am not overweight and fit. She obviously keeps fit.

Perhaps she could get a youthful look through heavy makeup, but she would have trouble getting such firmness in her jaw.

And she seemed to have something about her mouth, some tic or gesture that indicated to me some kind of problem. Could be something other than just stiffness in the muscles around her mouth that caused it.

She is quite a character. I'll grant her that. A certain class of men (typical Fox fanatics) probably find her "attractive." Men are strange.

7. any court case hires 'expert' witnesses that can make their case - this a case in point

that does not mean their argument is either rational or will be believed by the jury. All it means is at the end of the day, they get their check in the mail.

Too many insane idiots.

I'm not sure she's wrapped tight.

I was just threatened on a "Retirement Organization's" message board by a "retired" Insurance professional. I mean damn near FBI shit if not real FBI shit. I'm gonna make your life miserable kind of shit. These people are really not safe to be around. Sociopaths in many cases. I'm serious.

I called people out on their bullshit and they did what any loser Republican does, go dirty. Sad really. Bullies and losers, very frightened people. Like rabid dogs.

12. Really?
My Dad is a 'semi-retired' Insurance professional. (He still works a bit because he can't stop spending money...never been a saver or responsible with money really.) Gotta admit he is worried to death about health care reform. He's pissed off at me for supporting reform. Really pissed. But he's retired. I mean come on, wtf?

I'm sorry someone was threatening you. That is so lame.

Death Panel Myth Creator Betsy Mccaughey Resigns
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 05:19 PM by hedgehog
Source: Washington Independent

Betsy McCaughey — an outspoken proponent of the myth that Democrats’ health care reform proposals will lead to the creation of “death panels,” as well as a former lieutenant governor of New York and adjunct fellow at the Hudson Institute — has stepped down from her position as a director of Cantel Medical Corp., which bills itself as a “leading provider of infection prevention and control products in the healthcare market.”

From a press release:

CANTEL MEDICAL CORP. (NYSE: CMN – News) announced that on August 20, 2009 it received a letter of resignation from Ms. Elizabeth McCaughey as a director of the Company. Ms. McCaughey, who had served as a director since 2005, stated that she was resigning to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest during the national debate over healthcare reform.

McCaughey found herself the subject of widespread ridicule after an appearance on “The Daily Show” Thursday, during which host Jon Stewart aggressively challenged her positions on health care reform.

18. My only disappointment
with this interview is that Jon didn't bring up how hard she fought against healthcare reform during the Clinton Admin. He kept letting her say she was for reform, yadda, yadda, yadda but she really isn't.

Jon Stewart is a treasure.

32. When have the MSM news gerbils taken on people like McCaughey when they throw out lies like she did?
They just let these people spew their crap unchallenged. The undereducated viewers accept it as fact and spew it to their circles of friends.

And that's a big reason why this country is in the mess it's in.
