It wasn't offensive it wasn't anything. Just a waste of electrons. That's all I was saying. n Just my opinion....

...through the teevee it lowers barriers to understanding. When I was a kid in the 50s we used to wait weeks at a time when word got out that a black person would be on some show like Ed Sullivan or Ted Macks Amateur Hour. Anything that exposed who we were to a society that shunned us was a good thing, from our view. The whole neighborhood of kids whose parents didn't have a set (yes, that used to be the case) would crowd around it to watch. Finally, we were included. Maybe we are normal human beings after all. And those few minutes became much discussed for weeks thereafter.

While the circumstances today aren't quite the same, they are similar enough. Unless one has also been ostracized within society, sometimes its hard to understand how simple teevee depictions of those same people are of a benefit to them. But I hope you get my point. The more gay people are normalized in society as reflected through appearances on the television, the better. Period.

Not only do I see your point about normalization I agree with it. I don't have a "problem" with the clip or that process per se. I just thought this clip wasn't funny. It wasn't poignant and it wasn't particularly nice either. It was just a waste of time as far as I was concerned. That is all.

First if you read my posts above I really was looking at this clip from an entertainment perspective, which is inherently subjective....sooooo

1) I didn't find it funny or thought provoking in the least. It was basically a waste of time.

2) I don't give a rats ass how the dominant or privileged community views me as a minority beyond any infringement of my rights as an American. Seems to me people spend way too much time worrying about how others see them or think of them. So I guess I can't identify, with that desire.

It was funny. As a straight guy, I've never understood why me watching lesbian sex was supposed to be fun. The analysis and jokes were great.

The high five and the fist bump had me rolling.

And yeah, that's pretty much true.

In our pop culture, we seem to like our women straight, but vadge-curious.

It seems to me that girls kissing is OK because...well they're just girls. They're emotional and flighty and of course if 2 of them are there that means 2 vaginas!!!!

Men kissing is disgusting and just wrong because it's emotional and flighty and of course those are girlie things... and NO VAGINAS!!!!

Feminine = weak and silly. That's what this all looks like to me.

It should be made fun of! A lot.
