In 2 decades of wars for oil and resources, the fossil fuel industry has gotten a lot of bad press.
But climate deniers are people too, and they need to feel good about themselves and what they do. So they've worked hard overcome feelings of guilt.

It's a defense I call, "Therapeutic denial".....

Global warming is natural? It will have no long-term negative effects?

Bullshit - GW is already starving thousands every day, it will starve millions. If we do nothing, BILLIONS.

Of course, most of them will be poor people with dark skin elsewhere in the world.

That asteroid that hit the Earth 65 million years ago was natural too. No lasting effects for the dominate creatures at all!


Like Carl Sagan said years and years ago, if we don't do something (about overpopulation) then nature will, as it has in the past with many species, using starvation and disease to try to get things in balance. Of course overpopulation and climate change are linked. And the same rules apply. Nature (or god, if you want to call it that) is unconcerned with what we want and will do its thing without our consent. The laws of physics cannot be changed or circumnavigated.

But don't worry! The whole world is just like your back yard!

Global warming is established science. And there is no
promise of a saviour to come and rescue us if we screw this one up.

The same can be said of Global Warming enthusiasts. The "established" science too often agrees with a pre-existing agenda to be considered less than suspect.

And, we have a National Academy of Science that has weighed in on this issue
clearly for over 30 years. In fact, essentially every respected scientific
body on the planet has made it clear that AGW is real, and the consequences serious.
Since I am not a climate scientist, I seek out and defer to the opinions of the vast majority of those that
are.

Show me an article, ONE ARTICLE from a respectable source that doesn't employ the subjunctive mood in discussion of the alleged effects and progress of Global Warming.

When I was a kid, the bay water here was clear and the bottom was crawling with tropical shellfish. The development of the 1960's trashed the bays pretty good, but since 1980 there had been some remarkable recovery, even if the more beautiful conchs haven't returned. By the same token, I haven't heard much about barracuda either.

Yes, there has been a lot of environmental damage, but to lump that in with Global Warming has to be considered contrived. It's like saying that creek erosion outside mines is the result of Global Warming, it simply isn't. But the "beauty" of Global Warming is that it's such a catch all, and so many people are willing to accept it as such.

We have already overpopulated the planet. We are destroying it. Whatever happened to Zero Population Growth movement?
