ia a little black lady in Michele Bachman's district who wouldn't be shut up or shouted down, who stayed reasonable in contrast to a room packed with astroturf grass rooters.

5. I must be missing something.
I listened several times and felt the tuxedoed gent was on our side.

"We have the best health care in the world... You clapped too soon... IF you can afford it"

He then went on and said no one could tell him that having 300M people enter a pool would not have immediate clout. He is not willing to give up his medicare because others deem it socialism.

As a politician, he knows others play on your fears. He doesn't.

I haven't made it to 3:57 yet, but believe there are at least 2 heroes at bachmann's town hall. I think he is clearly for the public option.:shrug:

6. Think Progress have updated their story...
The Minneapolis Star Tribune quoted more of Schaffer's words and it turns out he was defending Social Security. "I'm on Social Security and I've got Medicare," said Schaffer, 70, before entering the auditorium. "I have socialized medicine. I wouldn't give it up for anything in the world."

7. you have it exactly right- he turned the GOP tables with their own words.
the second speaker was no better than a tea-bagger who refuses to listen... EXCEPT that i agree with her 100%... her delivery was lame and she let people shout over her every word. it din't work- though i got to give her an A+++ for sticktoitiveness!

13. I was thinking the same thing-
it was right after she went through that tired old wing nut talking point crap about how only the wealthy pay taxes in this country. I've never done the research myself, but the percentages in that argument never add up to me. I know I pay taxes. I never get back everything in a refund, and I'm considered lower than average by the income standards I've seen. The wing dings pull this talking point out a lot when they want to act smart throwing numbers around.:shrug:

Amazing that she is able to get away with this talking point. Sure 40% pay no net taxes, because they are so poor they can't! And the richest 5% make 40% of the income of the entire country, so of course they will pay a significant net, they still go home with tremendous loot and get a heck of a bargain on their payment toward an infrastructure they exploit.

17. You can't squeeze blood from a turnip. As long as income distribution
is so off center that 40% of the nation can hardly survive, well of course you won't be able to collect much in taxes from them. Don't fall for the Republican talking point. Think it through and I am sure you will understand why.
