1. I can't stand that guy.
Granted, he's still not as high on the list as Michael Savage or Glenn Beck. Speaking of Beck, it was great to see .

Boortz used to be arch-segregationist Lester Maddox's speechwriter.

30. Boortz is no Nazi.
He's too stupid to be one.

Boortz is a racist redneck, one of those inbred Jawjuh "good ol' boys" who regularly disparage racial groups *HE* doesn't like.

3. Despicable
He's not the only one, either.

Remember when U.S. Rep. Richard Baker, R-Baton Rouge had this to say?

"We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."

central casting would be looking for guys like Boortz. He not only looks the part but he has the Nazi philosophy down pat.

I so wish that Hell was a reality, just so I could pray this racist pig into it for all eternity.
New Orleans is my heart and that includes all the people there, black, white, green, purple and gold.

... which would not apply to you.

However, if you would like to share with the class what you like about New Orleans, perhaps comparing it to something most would find familiar, by all means.

16. Pardon the f*ck out of me
for being a tad sensitive today towards people that question why our city could possibly be in someone's heart. You are very crass. If our city is in anyone's heart, I applaud it. Do not talk down to me...how do I know what people would find familiar? And 'share with the class'? You are a condescending person. Pick on New Orleans another day.

11. New Orleans is my heart, too.
I watched Brian Williams' piece on the weather channel about Katrina this week and I cried and cried. And cried. People are rude about our city. Do you like your coffee? Do you want the price to rise? If not, you need New Orleans. And the heartland...we export 1/2 of the grain production grown in the heartland...from where...from our port. We have history. Lots of history. And art. And beauty. And we ARE NECESSARY. Despite what other people say.

28. Much less charming and user friendly than I expected.
I was there was 20 years ago. I thought some things were nice. I found the downtown area to be kind of bleak, but then it was August and everyone was miserable in the heat. The French Quarter was in much worse shape than I expected, frankly more like most colonial districts in the 1960's when they were first coming back from total neglect but only with attitude and some paint and long before major restoration. I did not expect the desk clerk at the hotel to take a map and a highlighter and draw a "do not cross" line around a subset of the French Quarter area with the warning that to do so would be to put my life at risk. I did not expect to have my car put in a high security lot and be unavailable during my stay because to put it in the regular lot would to be to put it at tremendous risk of being damaged or stolen. A lot of the people in the FQ were depressing, many falling down drunk but I would expect that in one of the world's most famous bar districts. What I didn't expect was to be thoroughly disappointed in the Café du Monde.

I'm really not that hard to please. I actually liked El Paso and Juarez. I liked Houston. I did not like Chattanooga, but for completely different reasons than New Orleans. I think the deal with New Orleans is that you have expectations. In my case, it never occurred to me that the French Quarter would not be a spiffy restored colonial district.

32. No, but I thought you'd like the opportunity to return that one.
I'm generous to a fault.

As for the French Quarter not being spiffy enough, you can take that personally. I followed the area on realtor.com for years, and clearly they were neither giving it away nor renting it out cheaply. So what you had were people taking in the money, but not re-investing it. And when you compare it to some other places which are largely renters who have no hope or expectation of ever buying (like the Castro in SF) then you might legitimately wonder why it is that so many people in the Castro take pride in the homes, despite them being rented, while so many in New Orleans seemed content to let their fall down around them.

Just an observation. Yes, Katrina really damaged New Orleans, but it wasn't in such great shape to start with. So when we're talking about how much money the taxpayers should put into this, we might reasonably ask if the goal here it to make New Orleans whole (the same as the day before Katrina) or if there is the greater expectation of making it spiffy.

33. Funny
how all of your overly generous words just blurred into blah blah blah. No wonder I'm not exactly fond of your posts...if you don't like New Orleans, I know you won't like me.

Today is not the day to start preaching to New Orleanians about real estate values, your opinion of our crime rate, how your precious car was in peril...oh my!

I hope you don't return to New Orleans. Twenty or even forty years later would be FAR too soon.

Bet you can't wait until 9/11 to pick on some New Yorkers, eh?

he has over the years said terrible things. I called on him when I sold dictation equipment. He ws a two bit lawyer. really pathetic and a miserable failure. That is why he went back to radio. He thinks property is more important than people. Like all these people they are consumed with hate.

20. I often wonder if Boortz is serious about the crap he says.
At one time, he explained why he favoured price-gouging (because it insures there is enough to go around). Yesterday, he likened the captivity of the woman who was held and abused for 18 years to the hold the democrats have on the voters. Really? He'd like to be Glenn Beck but he apparently hasn't said anything vile enough for FOX to take note.

In any other venue, the people around him would tell him to shut up until he can make sense.

25. I probably hear more of him than I do most of the others
because I listen to him sometimes when I'm driving. It's just a show really; I can't imagine him really thinking he has a noble cause. Even his in-studio helpers seem somewhat confused at what he says. Oftentimes he whines that he's just filler while people wait for Clark Howard and Sean Hannity. Certainly seems jealous for more attention, so the more extreme the better.

21. Go figure...
...you're absolutely right when you say that the folks that listen to Boortz are the bad guys. Being from Atlanta - Boortz show originates here on Cox Broadcasting's, WSB-Radio - I know a lot of people that regularly tune into the prick's show and like to repeat crap that he's said. When I challenge them as to 1) why they would pay attention to him? and 2) why they would repeat it?, more often than not I get a 'because he says outrageous things' (not that they claim they agree with him or not, just that for some sick reason they like to hear it said).

I've also heard that Boortz has admitted that some (or maybe a lot, for all we know) of what he says he doesn't really believe himself - that he does it just to spur ratings. Now that's really the worst. One thing if you believe your contemptible crap, another if you just 'play it on the radio' for money. You ask how could advertisers stay with him - because way too many of 'em already agree with him, along with the fact that no effective boycott has sprung up over this piece-of-shit.

I say that the best way to deal with Boortz is to go after Cox Communications and, in particular, the Cox family. Here's an organization that built its reputation as being a 'shining light' in a sea of racism and bigotry. Their Atlanta Constitution newspaper gave the city, the South and the country, Ralph McGill, as wonderful a voice for human decency and civil rights as there existed in the 50's and 60's. Cox's radio and television stations here, WSB - The Voice of The South (at the time they meant that in as positive way as possible), were the standard by which every other broadcast outlet(s) were judged. Well, over the past 8-10 years, their true colors, and I expect the true meaning of their tag line, has come forth. WSB radio is not only the originating station for Boortz, they also air Hannity, Savage and guy named Cain, a black conservative that blasts Obama, Democrats and Liberals as much, or more, than any of the others.

The Cox family are the ones that have sold their souls (the two - although one has past away - richest women on America are/were the owners) to the conservatives. Go after their cable operations...their newspapers...their TV and radio stations - I mean at least Faux and Clear Channeling don't make any beans about what they believe, Cox tries to act like their still that 'voice of reason' that they long since abandoned for 'gold'...but especially go after their reputation for being middle-of-the-road, philanthropist, do-gooders.

I'll even give 'em a billboard line - You Can't Spell Boortz without a BOOR!

He has absolutely no morals concerning what spews from his mouth, as long as it draws attention to him and by default, raises his ratings.
