1. I like the ads, but I really don't trust AARP.
What have they been drinking? It's not like them since they never met an insurance company they didn't like

2. I suspect their membership has been declining for that very reason
and they may be trying to re-brand the AARP as an advocacy organization, rather than an insurance broker/shill and seller of oversize, ugly-ass sunglasses ;) (you know the ones I'm talking about? They were really common a few years ago, you would see elderly people wearing them everywhere- I think the AARP had a special on them for like $5 a pair)

3. They must have done a pretty big cable ad buy- I've seen them often-
On CNN, BBC, MSNBC- haven't noticed it they are running only on cable however. What's interesting, is the webpage about this initiative is is right on target in explaining the truty and myths about health care reform and it's in simple, easy to under terms. It even supports the public optin and explains in easy to understand terminology, why it is so important.

I always figured that although they are for the most part, a consumer advocasy group, they are still tied to insurance (which they sell) and pharma. as well as other corporations. So, I'm happy to see them being ao agressive with this campaign but I wish I could trust them more fully.

4. I stand corrected- they purchased prime time major network spots as well.
Just saw it on 60 Minutes. Someone is funding them big time for this type of media buy. Again, I'm not complaining if it inspires people to get to their website and read the facts- but it is interesting...
