Michael Moore in solidarity with his fellow documentary filmmaker nominees - "We are against this war."

"A fictitious president." Watch again to remember exactly what he said 4 years ago and realize people are STILL giving him and 'Fahrenheit 9/11' a hard time.

1. I remember this moment with love.
I was working at an ABC affiliate that broadcast the Oscars. I told my co-workers to watch out if Moore won the award. He didn't disappoint.

Everyone in the room, used to the constant sucking-up to the White House, felt their jaws drop to the floor. They couldn't believe that someone in a broadcast channel would dare to say anything that forceful.

And in fact, you can tell Moore himself was a little nervous. He stuttered on the words "fictitious President" as if he was afraid a sniper was about to take him out. But he got up the nerve again, with "Shame on you!"

I mark this moment as the first time anyone stood up in public and said "The emperor has no clothes. But ladies, you will be really disappointed."

2. This, for me, was one of those moments when I found out that a lot of my fellow citizens
didn't get it. He was attacked for being inappropriately political - even though his FELLOW NOMINEES were up there with him in agreement - as if it was somehow SO offensive to speak out against war to try and save human beings lives when clearly the yearly ego-stroking, fashion-plating, arbitrary ranking of industry output and awful musical numbers was SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. Sheesh.

Give me a good streaking with David Niven or a Michael Moore polemic anyday.

3. Some of us were against the war before being against the war was cool
And sometimes we have to acknowledge those who did not flip flop when it was convenient, but remained 100% consistent from the very beginning.

4. And to this day, I say "liberal (yeah right) ABC" played a canned "Boo" track
You hear the "boos" when he starts criticizing Chimpy, but the camera pans the entire theater and can't find one person booing. Or even looking pissed off. Hell, I wonder if the audience even heard the prerecorded boo track, or if that was strictly post production?
