And don't ask us to dismantle the wall later. Nope, we put it up it stays up.

4. It's treason
but I say let them go. They don't need the federal government giving them any more money, aid, no more FDA, FDIC, medicare... these are children threatening their parents. They're not going to run away, they just don't want to go to bed!

Do what their parents would do. Open the door and say, "off you go!"

8. Really sickening
"Get a job!" - really? Do all jobs give health insurance on day one? Nope! And if you are fortunate enough to have healthcare, will it cover a catosrophic illness, or drop you once a limit has been reached. I hope the guy who yelled "Get a job" ends up seeing first hand why we need reform.

9. Just GO already!
Seriously, that state is a wasteland of disgusting filth. The nation of Texas would be the sorriest POS in North America. I'd love to see them break off and become a wasteland. The rest of America hates Texas and their attitude.

11. I'd love to see them become their own country
then face the reality of needing to TAX people to get the things they need. I'd love to see a fence put up all around that state. Keep those animals in there.

17. I'm from Texas and I want to apologize....
...for letting our crazies show! Did you notice how few people were at this rally? Texas is a fairly evenly divided state, with a slight Democratic edge. Thanks to that dancing criminal Tom Delay, redistricting allowed the right wing nuts to take over our state government.

Both the Houston and Austin areas have voted strongly Democratic for years; both areas supported Pres. Obama in the 2008 election.

The road back to reason is long and hard, but we are slogging along here in Texas!

Oh, the the secessionists don't read the laws around this; Texas can't secede from the US. We can break into two smaller states, but that's about it.

16. Wow!
Not only do I have to contend with Right Wing rednecks in my home state, but other DU'ers who like to broadbrush us all into that category. Maybe some of you noticed there were less than a hundred people at that gathering. THEY DONT REPRESENT ALL OF US! The right has obviously taught you the fine art of stereotyping.

Way to back the rest of us Texans up. Some of you should be ashamed.

19. Actually I voted in a poll
that asked, "Should Texas secede"? I voted "No" it wouldn't be right. We all know that not all Texans are alike. However, it doesn't hurt to respond when the few talk of secession. I have family members in Texas we talk about this and it all sounds so crazy. I for one am sorry if this offends you.

Texas absolutely should not secede. I am more frustrated by the nutjobs that claim they speak for all of us.

21. They may not
represent ALL Texans, but there has been a definite increase in support for the secessionist movement, and it includes the Texas State Legislature, and Governor Perry:

House Concurrent Resolution 50

On February 17, 2009, House Concurrent Resolution 50 was introduced and as of April 21, 2009 the resolution is in committee. The resolution reads in part:

RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby claim sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That this serve as notice and demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed.

On April 9, 2009, Governor Perry affirmed his support for the resolution. Cal Jillson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University, said "We haven't heard as much talk about Texas sovereignty and states' rights in the last 30 years as we have in the last week."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_secession

The linked article further states that one poll found that 48% of Texas Republicans support secession. That is hardly "stereotyping." That Texas has a history of secession, along with the rest of the South, gives the possibility of attempting to try it again more credence. Texas, and the rest of the antebellum South tested the Constitution of the United States of America in 1861 (including the "intent" of the 2nd Amendment) and lost. I have no doubt that the outcome would be the same today -- only much quicker.

THEN WE WILL CLOSE DOWN OUR FEDERALLY CONTROLLED BORDERS IN THAT REGION AND LET MEXICANS TAKE ALL OF YOUR JOBS. YOUR ON YOUR OWN NOW.....YOU SURE YOU WANT THAT?
