8. seppuku

Involves HONOR to begin with.. For a Samurai (Samurai means "to serve)to commit to Seppukku or is ordered to commit seppuku ~this involves righting a wrong in an Honorable way...
Samurai could also be ordered by their daimyo (feudal lords) to commit seppuku. Later, disgraced warriors were sometimes allowed to commit seppuku rather than be executed in the normal manner. A samurai was bathed, dressed in white robes, and fed his favorite meal. When he was finished, his instrument was placed on his plate. Dressed ceremonially, with his sword placed in front of him and sometimes seated on special cloths, the warrior would prepare for death by writing a death poem.

These people have NO honor

2. Florida has a law called the Baker Act, for having crazy people picked up.
I have a friend who got serious whacked out when he heard about the Baker Act in Florida- he and his lover had just bought a vacation home here and he's more than acutely aware that his lover (whom I have known since childhood) and I consider him to be certifiably imbalanced.

Anyway, doesn't Bachmann's state have a law under which she can be involuntarily committed?

3. People who are mentally ill and dangerous can be involuntarily committed.
I think she qualifies.

4. maybe a bunch of people can call the police in the town she lives
and let them know a woman has threatened to slit her wrists and is trying to get others to go along in some kind of suicide pact.

10. Clearly she is a danger to herself and others. Even in California that would get you observation.

7. Involuntarily committed? Surely you jest. If they're certifiable,
they're presidential material in the rethug party. And if they lose, the speaking circuit is waiting to shovel millions into their personal coffers.

Sane and rational are losing propositions in the new rethug party.

11. Just to throw a wet towel on something some may not be thinking about, She may be punking you.

She is getting normally good Democrats to talk about suicide and making jokes about it.

I think we should keep the high ground. It seems like thinking that sort of thing is not the best way of thinking, it is uncaring and unfeeling. And in my view makes other opinions some people have seem worse.

It might be funny to some, but we lose alot of good people by suicide, many people take that wrong path, and much of the good they might do, and much of the love and good times they might have are lost because of such an action.

I think her statement is disturbing because we have a problem in society with people in despair choosing a bad action, equally I don't think anyone should be wishing that on someone because they are wrong on many issues.

I hope they find peace and comfort and are able to open their hearts and see better, not that they die.

If her comments gets you to wish suicide on people, she may have in some way hurt you with that statement, although the side it comes from is definitely questionable.

Edit: For those that do not know, suicide is very bad in Catholic teachings, and getting Democrats to joke about suicide could be an attempt to cloud other issues that are part of the Christian and Catholic faith.

Edit2: I should have posted this earlier, but the real issue with her statement is that it makes a calous statement that many in despair could take in the wrong way. It is not good for that reason, and also because it can put bad thoughts in people.

No offense to people that saw the obvious item she referred to, but I think it was a bit of a trap, we all go to far on things like that at times, and it was psycho talk for her to say it, but sometimes on some topics it is not the best way to join in on her comment. I should have posted this earlier but without the tape of the event it seemed to be that it could be false, if it was just a slip it would have been on tape, by it just being a quote it does not stick to her, but gets some to go to far when commenting on her imbalance.

13. K&R
I love Ed Schultz. He speaks for blue collar and working class Democrats.

Keith and Rachel are great - but don't have quite the same "heartland appeal".

15. Michelle Bachmann, you've been promoted.
Ever since I heard that bit about her being the 2nd most hated republican woman, I've been thinking. And I've decided I hate her more than Sarah Palin. I'm merely contemptuous of Sarah Palin's stupidity. I can laugh at Sarah Palin. (Maybe not if she was president, but I'll wait until if and when that actually happens) But Michelle Bachmann, in addition to being stupid- and probably not as stupid as Palin- is also crazy and evil. That bitch makes the kind of inflammatory remarks that will one day lead to some kook taking a shot at Obama. That is totally irresponsible for anyone in the public eye, and should absolutely not be tolerated from someone who holds national office.

16. Bachmann and Herger are the worst (pro-terrorist) Republicans
Palin is no longer an elected official and was never as aggressively evil as Bachmann.

Michele Bachmann and Wally Herger are cheerleaders-in-chief for the next generation of Presidential assassins and Federal Building bombers.

"I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us, “Having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,” and the people – we the people – are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States."
Rep. Michele Bachmann - March 2009
