Here's my take - I don't think the majority of the Dems want a public option - Rahm Emmanuel has been pretty demanding about the "liberal" (yeah, I think he means the far left) side of the party "to get in line" - all of them pretty much stink of HC lobbyist money. So, they take a plan to the House with a watered down PO portion, the Blue Dogs with the help of the screaming, crying, whining republicans water it down even more - send it off to the Senate, where asshats such as Baucus (who's own plan was written by Liz Fowler, a former VP for Public Policy and External Affairs at WellPoint) and the conservadems with the help of the screaming, crying, whining republicans will rewrite it and take the PO completely out - end result, stalemate, and in the spirit of bipartisanship the final bill will have NO TEETH, NO PUBLIC OPTION AND NO REFORM.
