2. plenty wants informed citizens? God, he is one of the dumbest. As
for someone cutting back on health care - he has been trying that ever since he was elected and we did not let him so why would we let someone else do it? He had better wake up or he will be the first MN governor run out of the state.

4. The state did not reelect her - one small district did. The rest of us
had nothing to say about it.

18. Bachmann-Pawlenty
Bachmanns district is the most gerrymandered ever. It is nearly 100% white and slides like a salamander around the northern suburbs and St. Cloud. No matter what she'll be history after redistricting. Her district starts about 4 miles north of me. Where I live Obama got 90%, Franken 80%, and Keith Ellison was virtually unopposed. These are low information voters in her district with the media being completely right wing plus St. Cloud area has a large pro-life Catholic base. Pawlenty never got a majority in either of his races and couldn't be reelected. As a governor he is a door knob. The rethugs have used the tried and true "third part candidates" ruse to siphon independent votes from Democrats. It's really easy. First you sling mud at your opponent with the help of the friendly media and when the mud gets deep enough both ways you use your trained third party guy or gal to say "vote for me-I'm pure as driven snow." I'm sure Jesse Ventura's governorship was and accident-he got only 34%-and his real function was supposed to keep a dem out. Besides Pawlenty was going down in the last election until bucket loads of money came in from Texas and our media made a deal to slam his opponent.

5. I just don't get how anyone believes that insurance execs are more generous
compassionate and wise, unlikely to ration care, than the federal government. On what is this idiocy based?

7. Faith based health care. Have faith in the corporation.
You didn't think that meant faith in GOD, did you?

13. it's an utter mystery to me, really.
really the only conclusion I can draw is that it's not about health care, it's about blind hatred, plus massive ignorance. (I realize this isn't exactly an original statement here on DU.) :)

11. Pawlenty has never won the majority of the vote in Minnesota
The only reason he was able to get elected here is because the Independence Party took a lot of votes from the Democrats, Pawlenty has never won a majority of the vote in a statewide election. He only received 44% when first elected and then was just barely re-elected with 47% of the vote. If he is going to be the next GOP Presidential candidate (which is a very likely possibility) he will have a hard time winning his own state, he is not very popular here and after his abuse of power with his unallotment scheme that allowed him to completely ignore the entire legislative branch of government he has pissed many people off. If Pawlenty is the nominee look for Obama to destroy him in Minnesota.

8. He's playing to the crazies now.
He wasn't ready to sell his soul when McCain chose a running mate. He is now.
Where are his great ideas on health care?? Twice he vetoed bills combining teachers into a state-wide health insurance pool to reduce costs to districts as well as teachers. This year the bill did not move because there were not enough votes to overide his veto.

The only good news in his quest for the presidency is he leaves the state often and won't run for gov again.
But that is small comfort. They are all being drawn into the insanity, and it is terrifying.

10. Pawlenty's just making a fool of himself.
He apparently wants to acquire some extremist chic for the 2012 primaries. but tentherism and deatherism ill suit him--teh crazy does not work for a dorky, spindly, mild little dude like him--it only makes him look smaller. I doubt teh crazy would take anyone to the White House, but at least it would seem more credible coming from a great rough-hewn cattle-rancher type with a booming voice. Pawlenty just comes off as a twerp trying to look all hard.

12. I'm tired of hearing concerns about what COULD happen.
They COULD throw the bill out in ten years and adopt something to cut the population in half. They COULD then decide which of the ones left could continue to reproduce. None of that means a damn thing now. We're living today in, ahem, reality.

15. Give Scarborough credit for sticking to the point

and getting through the BS. We should compliment him when he does a good job. He's proof that a rational conservative is only and always a mythological creature.

16. I'm concerned that Pawlenty is an...
...alien invader, sent here to poison the minds of the populace. While I have no hard evidence to underpin my concerns, but I feel it is worth raising.
